Tenants Vanish With Landlord’s Children In Edo
Two female tenants from Cross River State, identified as Mercy and Rose who reportedly moved to Utese village in Ovia North East local government area three weeks ago after they told their landlord that they do farm work and also engaged in hair making, have reportedly disappeared with their landlord's two children.
The two kids whose names were given as Amada aged four and Christable aged two, were left in the custody of the tenants by their mother who went to the stream to wash her clothes. The distraught parents who made inquiries after the tenants disappeared, were told by residents of the village that they saw them stopping vehicles on the highway and they thought they were taking the children out as usual. When their room was broken into, it was discovered that they took their few belongings and vanished.
Mother of the missing children, Faith Osaruoname who spoke to newsmen in Benin said that she always leaves her children with the tenants whenever she is going out. However on this occasion, after she went to the stream with her eldest daughter and she came back, she was told that the tenants went out with the children.
She added that it dawned on her that the tenants have fled with her two daughters, after her husband returned.
“I thought the girls will soon return home with my children so I went to cook. After cooking, I wanted to go and get some water again when my husband came back.
“He asked me about the children and I told him they went out with the tenants. I later ran out to look for them but did find them. I have been calling the numbers of those girls and they were switched off.”
The Nation reported that the Father of the children, Omokpia Osaruoname, said he has reported the matter at the Okada Police Division.
Omokpia said he was surprised when his two daughters did not come out to welcome him home. He stated that he was further shocked when his wife told him she has not seen the children since when she returned from the stream.
His words, “I went to Benin by 8am. I left my wife and children at home with the tenants that have not spent up to three weeks. Their mother said she was going to the stream so she left the children with the tenants. My wife said she returned at about 5pmand did not see the children.
“I said at 7pm my children are still not back. My wife ran out and started looking for them. She later called that they said the tenants have ran away with my children.
“People said they saw them stopping taxi. We went to various police check points and the Okada Police Division.
“One is a hairdresser. They don’t have any shop. They begged me to give them a shop in my house and I told them to wait till the end of the year. Some boys in our area who are their boyfriends used to come and see them.
“They said their brother lives in the next village but I have not seen him before. I don’t have their photographs; I don’t know anything about them. They don’t have any property except for carpet, curtains and few clothes.”

Okorocha Wants Oyegun to Go to Jail.
By Steve Uzoechi OWERRI
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has declared that going by the way Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has managed the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the outgoing APC national chairman was apparently overrated by leaders of the party who had allowed him to succeed Chief Bisi Akande as party chairman.
Okorocha who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo maintained that Chief Oyegun has taken the Party several years backward to the extent that today, there is no State chapter of the party where there is no crisis or factions.
A statement by Onwuemeodo read in part, “The way Chief Oyegun has pursued the elongation of his tenure also showed how selfish and greedy, he is. He is not interested in the well-being or future of the party, but only interested in staying put as the National Chairman of the Party. And that is why he is after anybody who opposed the tenure elongation.
“The worst thing that would have happened to APC is to allow Chief Oyegun to continue as the National Chairman of the Party. It would have been worst for the Party. Chief Akande never tried to destroy the party when he was leaving as the pioneer Chairman, but Oyegun wants to destroy the party because he is leaving. He is not patriotic.”
He continued, “In the case of Imo, he disobeyed two court orders with regard to the congresses in Imo and the inauguration of strange elements as the state officials of the party just to get at Governor Okorocha because of the issue of elongation. And we have no option now than to ask our lawyers to press for his imprisonment and that of Osita Izunaso and all those who were involved in the lawlessness.”
The statement averred that the only thing Chief Oyegun has achieved in his ‘anger against Governor Okorocha is encouraging elements with no electoral value like Osita Okechukwu and those from Imo to be insulting the Governor. And these are people who cannot win their booths in an election’.
The same elements, he said, came together during the Anambra State governorship election.
“The governor stayed away and at the end of the day, they could not justify their noise making. They have also started again. And these are people who have been running election since 2007 and have not won any”, he said.
The statement warned that Imo APC members would not tolerate factionalization of the party.
“In case Chief Oyegun does not know, Imo APC members won’t allow any faction. The APC in Imo and even in the South-East is Governor Okorocha’s making. And it will be foolish of anybody to think that he would build the party and allow cowards to take it over. If they have the political strength, let them go and pick a party and present a candidate, and it will be very interesting”, the statement stressed.

Benue Killings: Buratai Under Fire For Suggesting Review Of Grazing Law
The tribal leaders of Benue have slammed the recent call by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai for a review of the state’s grazing law to accommodate killer herdsmen.
They warned that such call could further embolden the marauders to unleash more killings in states like Benue.
Speaking through their Chairman Chief Edward Ujege, the leaders under the aegis Mdzough U Tiv (MUT), Idoma National Forum and Omi-Ny’Igede, while commending the Army Chief for his dogged fight for a peaceful Nigeria, derided his counsel.
He said: “He (Buratai( was quoted as saying that the laws should be reviewed in such a way that everyone is given a sense of belonging. By implication, General Buratai’s position is that even terrorists like ISIS, Boko Haram as well as other categories of militants should be given a sense of belonging in our country and Benue State in particular after being chased out of our communities.
“We fault his counsel because the duty of the Nigeria Army is to provide security for lives and property especially when such security cannot be guaranteed by the Police or other sister security agencies. In other words, the Army or military is the last resort as far as dealing with security challenges of this nature in the country is concerned.
“The truth of the matter is that the happenings in BenueState predate the enactment of the Benue State law to prohibit open grazing and establishment of ranches. Indeed, there are many other states across Nigeria where these murderous acts are presently occurring, for which no such laws have been enacted. These include Adamawa, Zamfara, Ondo, Kaduna, Plateau, Cross River, Enugu and Edo states.
“Such statements coming from a highly placed person like General Buratai, are capable of igniting nerves and may be an invitation/encouragement to the militants to act, whereby the statements made by General Theophilus Danjuma becomes weighty.
“It will therefore be wrong for General Buratai who is known for his professionalism and gallantry in dealing with such situations to delve into counseling state governments on reviewing their laws and policies when mercenaries alleged by the leadership in the country to be aliens are killing innocent Nigerians.
“Even if review of such laws and policies were to be considered as counseled by the Chief of Army Staff, that would have been suggested after the military had chased out the ‘Muamar Gaddafi trained militia’ herdsmen out of the states in question.
“Suggesting a review of such laws and policies to accommodate everyone means giving a backing to the aliens and other criminal militia herdsmen for their actions.
“It is really worrisome for another to describe a law that conforms to international best practices of rearing animals as obnoxious and draconian. If we are quick to copy democracy from developed climes like the United States of America, why are we hesitant and even resistant to copying a modernized way of animal husbandry which is even practiced in African countries like South Africa, Swaziland among others?
“We state unequivocally that the enactment and implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, 2017, fulfilled all due processes and is not in any way in conflict with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We want to put it on record that Sharia Law enacted in Zamfara pushed many out of business but they never took up arms. Rather, they relocated out of Zamfara to where they could do their legitimate business. Ours should not be an exception.
“The law is a creation of Benue people and even Governor Ortom has no powers to decide otherwise. The ranching law came as one of the many options to end farmers and herdsmen crisis in the state which had been on for decades and anybody ascribing it to the Governor’s personal or political interest is insulting our collective sensibilities and we must condemn that in its entirety.”

ADC: It Will Be Difficult For Obasanjo To Remove Buhari From Office – Tony Momoh
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos
Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information has said it will be very difficult task for former President Olusegun Obasanjo to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office in 2019 no matter how he tried.
Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Momoh, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also allayed the fears of Nigerians over the possibility of mistaking APC for ADC, which is the acronym of African Democratic Congress, the political platform adopted by Obasanjo’s Coalition of Nigerian Movement (CNM).
According to him, the acronym of both parties are different while their logos are also different from each other.
On Obasanjo’s quest to terminate Buhari’s reign by 2019, Momoh said the former president as a democrat will never get involved in a coup and in the eventuality of that, such a coup will not succeed as it will be resisted by well-meaning Nigerians.
“Obasanjo will not get involved in any coup and no coup in Nigeria that is resisted ever succeeded. So, how will he remove Buhari and put another person there? Will he call the Yorubas, Northerners, South Easterners and South South to vote against Buhari?”
“APC is different from APC and I don’t see them as a threat to our party. Everybody have their crowd. Do you think APC crowd will enter ADC? Both parties have their logo which is different from each other.

Sheikh AbdulRaheem Aduanigba Chief Imam Yoruba Of Ilorin Alleges Threats To Life.
May 12, 2018
An Islamic scholar, based in Ilorin, Kwara State, Sheikh AbdulRaheem Aduanigba, has alleged that his life is under threat, claiming that some people attempted to kidnap him in his residence on Tuesday night.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune in a telephone conversation, Sheikh Aduanigba, who said he is the Lemomu Yoruba (Chief Imam Yoruba) of Ilorin, said he was being persecuted for his stance on the emancipation of the Yoruba race.
A video went viral on the social media, during the week, in which the Islamic cleric called on Muslim faithful to drop their Islamic names and rather adopt their Yoruba names as part of the efforts at resuscitating the Yoruba renaissance.
Speaking on Thursday, he said his ordeal started some 20 years ago when he was turbaned as the Chief Imam Yoruba of Ilorin, an action which he said did not go down well with the Ilorin Emirate and which culminated in a law suit which he eventually won in 2009.
“I was in my house on Tuesday, 8 May, 2018, when some three men came knocking at my gate at about 11pm. They claimed that they were police officers who were acting on the instruction of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Aminu Pai Saleh, who they claimed invited me to a meeting at that odd hour.
“I became suspicious as I noticed that two of the three men wore unkempt beards and I thus concluded they were not policemen. They told me that I should come with them to honour a supposed invitation by the Commissioner of Police.
“I became more curious and I asked that they should allow me place a call to the police commissioner who is well known to me. Oddly, the first line was switched off and the second rang and rang many times, unpicked.
“One of the men now unwittingly suggested that the police commissioner must be sleeping, a clear signal that the said invitation at 11pm may not have even emanated from the police commissioner. My suspicion was coupled with the fact that there was no warrant of arrest and no formal letter of invitation.”
Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kwara State command, Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, claimed that the Islamic cleric was duly invited by the police.
He said the cleric refused to honour the invitation made to him, despite the fact that the letter was sent to his residence, advising him to come out from hiding and “behave as a responsible citizen.”
According to Okasanmi, Sheikh Aduanigba was invited by the police, based on a petition written by those he described as concerned citizens of the state over alleged inciting video made and disseminated by the cleric to public.

Why Dangote Closed His Tomato Factory And Lessons You Can Learn From It
By Aroms Aigbehi
Spain produces 850 000 MT of raw tomatoes yearly. That is 12% of total European production. That is a lot of tomatoes because the Europeans eat lots of tomatoes. Lots of Nigerians work in the tomato farms in Spain.
They have so much tomatoes in Spain that once a year the Spanish will come together and have a very big tomato fight on the street. They will come with truck loads of tomatoes and people can fight each other with it all day. It is tradition and nobody gets hurt. But when you go to Spain just make sure you stay away from the Bull Run. That one also happens every year but don’t mix them up.
In Nigeria, many brilliant people thought the problem of tomatoes shortage was there wasn’t enough processing power to process the tomatoes produced, and were left to rot. Mr. Aliko Dangote got that information too, so he thought why not build a mega tomato factory to process all that tomatoes?
But he thought lets have a plan B. Lets recruit more farmers to produce tomatoes in case the present capacity was not enough.
As it happened, when the factory was completed the tomatoes available in Nigeria could only run the factory for few weeks and there wasn’t enough tomatoes. The country produce too little. Where are all the tomatoes the Minister said were spoiling in Nigeria due to lack of processing power? Stories.
Now Mr. Dangote is stuck with his tomato processing factory and has called in the Italians to come and build and run a very big tomatoes farm in Nigeria so he can run the processing factory.
This is the problem when people believe in fables and live in a fictional reality.
Hmm. could it have been a spiritual attack on Dangote?

How well-paid are software developers in Nigeria?
Ever asked yourself this same question? We attempted to answer it by putting together an anonymous survey. Based on the random responses we have gotten to our inquiries so far, we have deduced some useful insights about the work-life of software developers in Nigeria.
Software developers dominate the Nigerian tech space
Our survey suggests that software development is the most in-demand skill in the Nigerian tech industry. More than half of our representative sample, from the survey responses we got, are developers. While we had people working in other tech roles in our pool of respondents, the graph above shows the proportion of developers to other roles in the industry.
How much do software developers in Nigeria earn?
Do you think software developers are high earners? Only 39% of our survey participants earn below ₦150,000 monthly. The majority (about 52%) earn between ₦150,000 – ₦500,000 per month.
However, only 9% of our respondents have a monthly earning of above ₦500, 000 and these were mostly senior developers. Our findings are represented in the chart below.
Are Nigerian developers still underpaid?
In 2015, Oluwasegun Famisa, gave plausible reasons to prove that software developers in Nigeria are underpaid. Have things changed in 2017?
Based on our survey responses;
Average salary for developers = ₦275,980
Median salary for developers = ₦175, 000
The median salary is a more accurate representation of the earnings of developers because of the extreme values in our data set. To estimate if developers currently earn enough, let’s weigh the median salary for developers against the cost of living. It should be noted that there is a dearth of reliable locally sourced data for the cost of living in Nigeria.
According to Numbeo, as at August 2017, the monthly cost of living for a single person, without rent, in Lagos is ₦179,543.45. Numbeo is a crowd-sourced global database which uses heuristic technology to extract various economic indicators after filtering data provided by users. Numbeo is also said to gather data manually from authoritative sources including government, supermarkets, surveys etc.
Based on this data, for residents of Lagos to maintain a basic standard of living including, food, shelter, and healthcare, employees must earn about ₦180,000 with the current economic situation. From our survey, this is more than the salary of at least 50% of Nigerian developers, with rent still unaccounted for.
Depending on the area of Lagos, the rent for a modest one-bedroom apartment at the time of writing ranges from about ₦150,000 to ₦1 million per annum in Lagos. While renting a 3-bedroom apartment can cost between ₦700, 000 to over ₦3 million, depending on the location. This amounts to significant expenses on an already deficient income.
It can be deduced from the data presented above that the average developer in Nigeria is still underpaid.
Software development is unattractive in Nigeria
Software developers in Silicon Valley are some of the top earners in the United States. The table below compares the remuneration of developers in Silicon Valley to those in Nigeria based on data from Numbeo and Glassdoor.
From the table above, it can be deduced that the standard of living for developers in the US is significantly higher than that for developers working in Nigeria. This holds true despite the fact that cost of living is significantly higher in the US than in Nigeria.
Please note:
The salaries stated above are not foolproof and are subject to change.
Majority of respondents specified companies operating in Lagos, employees working remotely or outside Lagos were not given special consideration.
Analysis is based solely on data from specified sources.

'Scars and bruises I received from the hands of SARS once again. second time since this year!
I am the hardest worker in the room. my weeks are dominated by 18-20hours work days. that's how I have gotten this far in life.
I studied Plant Science in school.
realized the knowledge I was getting from studying plants wouldn't be enough to build the life I want for me and my family.
I took up computer programming. entirely Self Thought
I have learned and mastered Multiple programming languages to the point where I am officially one of the most sought-after Computer Programmers in Nigeria.
I WORK VERY HARD.
To have to endure this much torture on a monthly bases from the hands of those who have been charged with securing our lives is just sad. Am fed up with Nigeria.
I have Reported this incidence to The Nigeria Police Multiple times nothing has ever been done.
This particular incidence has been tabled with Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit - PCRRU, Nigeria Police Force, and all I get is silence. nothing can be done.
You are a young man you drive a car and stay in Port Harcourt. you must be guilty of some crime. that is their justification for beating me up.
"Admit you are a yahoo boy and write it down here else I go continue"
Those are the words he repeated continuously as he raised his hands and landed multiple blows on my body.
at the end of the day, they took 150k from me. and asked me to write that i offered them a bribe to facilitate my release. all this happened in under 3hours on Sunday.
Very sad and depressed.
A country of animals and illiterates'.

23,000ft, World's Highest Dinner Party Held On Mountain Everest (Photos)
MailOnline helps to break the record for the world's highest dinner party by eating a meal served at 23,000ft on EVEREST.
MailOnline Travel's Sadie Whitelocks went on an expedition with former special forces officer Neil Laughton.
I'd never felt so exhausted, I had a nagging headache and ice was steadily forming on the tip of my nose in the -20 degrees Celsius whipping wind.
I started to think that accepting an invitation to the world's highest dinner party on Mount Everest might have been one of the silliest things I'd done but not one to give up easily, I continued slogging my way up the 1km-high ice wall in a bid to not let my expectant dinner host down.
Former special forces officer Neil Laughton, a 54-year-old avid adventurer, first tried hosting the world's highest dinner party in 2015 but the Nepalese earthquake struck and the mission had to be aborted.
Now he was back on the mountain with a new team, including myself, to have another bite at the cherry.

PDP Condemns IG’s Refusal To Honour Senate Invitation.
The Peoples Democratic Party has criticised the repeated snub of Senate’s invitation by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, and described the attitude as “an assault on Nigeria’s democracy”.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reported that Idris, who was expected to appear before the Senate on Tuesday, failed to show up. It was the third time the Police boss was failing to honour such invitation.
Irked by that behaviour, the senate on Tuesday passed a vote of no confidence on the IGP and declared him unfit to hold any public office.
The PDP, in its reaction to the development, said that it was “very wrong” for the IGP to ignore the invitation, saying that he had missed a chance to share ideas with the lawmakers on ways to tackle the insecurity in the nation,
“His (IGP)’s refusal to honour the invitation is a deliberate assault on Nigeria’s democracy; it is a willful denigration of the National Assembly and a recourse to totalitarianism,” the party said in a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary.
The PDP said that it was “unfortunate” that Idris had, for the third time, shunned the Senate invitation over the worsening security situation in the nation.
“Never in our democratic history as a people and as a nation, has a service chief treated the National Assembly with disdain like the current IGP.
“All over the world, the legislature is a bastion of democracy and our constitution, in recognition of this, provides a special place for our National Assembly, as the representatives of the people, to serve as a check on the executive arm.
“We, therefore, condemn this offensive on our democracy by IGP Idris. We also condemn the deliberate insult being heaped on each of our legislators by appointees of President Muhammadu Buhari,’’ the party said.
The PDP urged the President of the Senate and other senators to protect the institution of the legislature and the country’s democracy by not limiting their action only to finding Ibrahim Idris as “unfit” to hold public office.
“The Senate should take the next step within their legislative instrument and powers to restore the respect and dignity which the generality of Nigerians and the 1999 Constitution (as amended), bestowed on them,” the statement said.

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Resigns From APC, Dumps Party.
Oyinlola was the National Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), one of the blocks in the APC during the 2015 general elections. He was once the PDP National Secretary.
Oyinlola, who is the Chairman of the Board of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), announced his resignation through a letter addressed to the Chairman of APC in Ward 1, Okuku, Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.
The former APC stalwart, whose letter was dated Wednesday, May 9, 2018, said he was leaving the party due to his current politics including his coordination of the CNM.

Nina Apologizes To Bobrisky: "I Hate To Have Enemies"
Former big brother Naija housemate, Nina has apologized to Bobrisky for shading her and Toyin Lawani.
Nina has now taken to Instagram to apologize saying she didn't know Bobrisky had issues with Toyin and she also doesn't like making enemies.
She wrote;
"I’m generally a cheerful person. I’m usually full of love, life, and happiness. I open my eyes in the morning and feel excited to be alive.
There was a time, though, when it wasn’t so easy in the big brother naija house When blinking and breathing and speaking all took so much effort that I thought I may as well give up: I was in a dark hole of sadness and anger and confusion.
I didn’t think I was gonna make it, but you rooted for me
For the friend who stood by my side through the storm for you Bobrisky the person who could see through my darkness when I wasn’t able to.
For the beautiful soul who believed in transformation, who believed in healing, and time, and growth. Who never once judged me for my heartache, grief, and anguish ,naevity .
Who, when the world gave up on me , gave me a piece of hope, a breath of fresh air, and a tiny scrap of faith that things might begin to change.
For the friend who was delicate with their words and capable of pushing me forward. Who didn’t mind what people where saying against me in dark corner, who actually stood his ground to help me
You endured and took alot of insult for my sake,You pulled me through an impossible tornado that I thought was going to eat me whole.
You loved me at my worst. You never gave up on me. You saw through my opaque pain.
Dear friend,
Thank you.
But I'm trying to build up my life,I didn't know you had all this difference with Toyin Lawani, but then again when i found out i said to myself..i shouldnt involve myself it's between you two..
And am free with both of you..I hate having enemies....
I'm never ungrateful I have always been grateful for all you did for me and will always be..
I hope you see through my point and understand
Thanks @bobrisky222"
