One of the arrowheads for the campaign that the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria be scrapped, Alhaji Aliyu Saidu Abubakar, on Wednesday, insisted that Nigeria does not deserve a bicameral legislature.
Aliyu, who is a nominee representing the North East in the proposed Governing Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) stated that the upper legislative chamber was a waste of fund and government resources.
The nominee had appeared before the Senator Gilbert Nnaji-led committee on Communications for the ongoing screening of NCC board nominees.
A member of the committee had confronted the nominee, asking why he would accept to appear before the same Senate which he once led a protest for its scrapping.
The drama, however, started when instead of apologising to the Senate and repent of his previous moves, the nominee insisted that the senate be scrapped as cost of running the legislative arm was high and unbearable.
The nominee noted that a situation where the senators had been receiving huge transport, wardrobe and dressing allowances and others was a clear economic loss to the country.
He also listed the purchase of expensive vehicles for Senators as another reason why the upper chamber should be scrapped.
The Senate is an avenue for wastage of scarce economic resources of the country. The Senate must go”, Aliyu insisted.
Meanwhile, the committee had earlier listed what it described as “grave irregularities” in the personal records of the nominee while perusing through the copies of curriculum vitae he submitted.
The committee noted that apart from birth certificate, there were only copies of court affidavit and police extract dated the same day, claiming loss of his credentials.
This made the committee to infer that the court affidavit and police extract may have been procured after Abubakar had been nominated to serve in the board.
The committee also said that it was interesting that the highest academic qualification of the nominee was a one-year “Diploma in Computer” from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
It also revealed that the attached statement of result was dated 23rd September 2016, also obtained after he had been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Requested to show reason why he chose to present documents that were procured shortly after his nomination and also why he believed that he was qualified to function as a National Commissioner in such a critical agency like NCC given the rigours, challenges and required expertise for efficiency of the commission, Aliyu said he “did not bother to go for the credentials.”
He explained further that he “only went to school merely for knowledge having been self-employed prior to the nomination.”

Justice Ngwuta Accuses Amaechi Of Begging Him Over Fayose's Removal.
Another Justice of the Supreme Court whose home was raided by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, has alleged that he was being victimized for refusing entreaties, at various times, to help the All Progressives Congress, APC, win governorship election cases involving Ekiti, Rivers and Ebonyi states.
His claim came barely three days after Justice John Inyang Okoro, also a Supreme Court Judge, alleged that former Rivers Governor and now transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, reached out to him over election appeal cases for Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Abia States.
Justice Ngwuta in a letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, specifically mentioned Amaechi and Minister of Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, as two top APC leaders who approached him.
Justice Ngwuta, made the disclose in a letter dated October 18 and addressed to CJN, Mahmud Mohammed and the National Judicial Council, NJC.
The letter is entitled: “Invasion Of My House In The Night, Planting Of Huge Sums Of Money In Different Currencies, Purported Recovery Of The Money, Carting Away Of My Documents And Other Valuable Items And My Subsequent Abduction By Masked Operatives Of The DSS Between Friday, October 7th And Saturday, October 8th, 2016”.
In it, Ngwuta said Ameachi begged him to facilitate the removal of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.
He further stated that shortly after the Supreme Court affirmed the election of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Amaechi also called him on phone and said “Oga is not happy”.

Herdsmen, Farmers’ Clashes Not Buhari’s Responsibilty – Obasanjo
Okechukwu Nnodim, Abuja.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday said it is not the responsibility of President Muhammadu Buhari to address the lingering clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
Obasanjo also decried the increasing level of hunger in the country, stressing that it was sad to note that about 65 per cent of Nigerians were faced with food insecurity.
The former president spoke during the 23rd Annual LAPO Development Forum with the theme, ‘Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture in Nigeria: Challenges and Opportunities’, organised by the Lift Above Poverty Organisation in Abuja.
Obasanjo said, “Some of the words that have been coming from our leaders, particularly from state governors are not helpful! This issue is not a federal issue and another thing, I don’t like about it is that when you talk of Fulani herdsmen, people talk of the President.
“Now because the President of Nigeria is a Fulani man, you expect him to solve the problem immediately, that is not his job. And when people make comments like this, it annoys me.
He noted that during the colonial era, there were grazing reserves in most parts of the North, but wondered what had happened to them.
Obasanjo said, “I need to state that it is the responsibility of local governments to take care of them. Now, states should have even done better, but they haven’t, and then when you have cattle rustling, herdsmen and farmers conflict, you try to make it a national issue. It is not really a national issue.
“For me, the herdsmen are entitled be able to look after their animals but they are not entitled to destroy the crops of the rural farmers, it is unacceptable.”

Citing alleged bribery, arrest, Ademola withdraws from Dasuki’s trial.
Ade Adesomoju, Abuja.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday withdrew from further presiding over the trial of a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).
Justice Ademola returned the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for re-assignment to another judge.
The Federal Government had on September 1, 2015 arraigned Dasuki before the judge on charges of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.
But Justice Ademola, who was one of the seven judges recently arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services, had written to the National Judicial Council, saying that granting bail to the ex-NSA was part of the allegations the DSS levelled against him.
The judge granted bail to Dasuki shortly after the accused person was arraigned on September 1, 2015.
At the resumed hearing of Dasuki’s trial on Tuesday, Justice Ademola said he was not willing to go on with the case in view of the recent development.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr. Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN), said he had not been briefed by his client (the Federal Government) on what position to take on the issue.
But the defence counsel, Mr. Adedayo Adedeji, said he had originally wanted to seek the judge’s guidance on what position to take but that since the judge had on his own raised the issue he should go ahead to determine it as he pleased.
The judge said, “I’m sure the prosecution and defence counsel are conversant with what is going on in the last seven days in this country.
“One of the allegations being made against me by the Department of State Services is that I received certain sums of unspecified money from the defendant.
“Of course, I have responded to that allegation of receiving an unspecified sum of money from the defendant but it will be wise for him to answer some questions.”
The judge then proceeded to direct his questions to Dasuki who was in the dock.
The conversation went thus:
Judge: Do you know me at all or have come in contact with me?
Dasuki: I don’t know you, my Lord.
Judge: Did you at any time give me money in respect of the ongoing trial?
Dasuki: No, my Lord, I didn’t give you any money.
Judge: Did you send any money to me; to any member of my family, or through any counsel?
Dasuki: No, my Lord, maybe the DSS agents who are making the allegation did.
Judge: I am happy that you have answered these questions. In the interest of fair hearing, I am minded to return the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for further action.
Reacting, the prosecution counsel said, “We are guided by your Lordship’s decision even though we have come for a ruling and continuation of trial.”
Okpeseyi sought an adjournment of the case to enable counsel for both sides to meet with the Chief Judge over the issue to determine the next line of action.
But the judge went ahead to deliver a bench ruling returning the case file to the Chief Judge.
He ruled, “This court is minded to transfer this case to the Chief Judge. The defendant has vehemently denied in open court today, the allegation made by the DSS.
“Therefore, this case file has been returned to the CJ in line with the principle of fair hearing.
“This criminal matter has been adjourned to another date as may be fixed by the new judge.”

Paul Pogba's Loud Sex Moans Shocks Hotel Guests.
MOAN UNITED £100m Manchester United star Paul Pogba has kept guests at a posh hotel awake with ‘loud sex moans’.
Well-heeled guests at the city's five-star Lowry Hotel complained it 'sounded like a porn movie'
MANCHESTER United party king Paul Pogba has kept guests at a top hotel awake by “loud sex moans” coming from his bedroom.
Businessmen and women have already cried foul in The Sun over loud parties he has held at the city’s five-star Lowry.
A hotel guest moved hotels after hearing sex moans coming from Paul Pogba’s hotel room in Manchester.
Now it emerges he has been scoring in the bedroom between 3am and 4am.
One visitor to Manchester told The Sun they complained to the Lowry staff about his sex moans – but nothing was done so they switched hotels.
The guest, who asked not to be named, said they saw the midfielder at the hotel with African singer Dencia.
They added: “We stayed at the Lowry and saw Pogba and Dencia together.
“You can’t miss Dencia – she is loud and flash.
“We were staying near them on the third floor of the hotel, so saw them coming and going from his room at the end of the hall-way.
“I settled down to sleep at 2 am after getting in late.
“There was loud hip-hop music blaring from his room and lots of giggling.

Pogba celebrates netting his first Manchester United goal since his £100m move from Juventus this summer.
“It eventually quietened down but between 3am and 4am there was unmistakable moaning and groaning to be heard.
“They didn’t seem to care who heard them. It went on forever.
"It sounded like a porn movie. A few times we heard moans of 'Paul, babe' it was very uncomfortable.
"It was impossible not to hear because she was very loud."
But last night the mystery deepened into the lewd noises coming from the United ace's hotel room as Dencia insisted they are just pals.
Artist and celebrity manager, RaĆ½mani Zaloumis-Steele, who represents Dencia, said: "She does not have a sexual relationship with Paul
Pogba. They are part of the same social circle."
"During some of the period in question, Dencia was in Europe at a DJ-ing gig, and to promote her multi-million dollar skincare line, Envydia."
The Sun's source stayed at the Lowry from September 24 to 30.
The guest said: "The first day I saw Paul and Dencia together was the evening of September 24.
"Dencia wore black outfits and always had boots on.
"The first time I heard the sex noises was between 1am and 2am the following morning.
"I could also hear them on the nights of September 27, 28 and 30 - on that occasion as late as 4am.
"If it wasn't loud music from his room it was loud moaning.
"The music was as annoying as the sex because it was vulgar hip hop.

Recession: Abuja Couples Sell Wedding Rings To Feed..
The economic recession is biting harder by the day and it’s affecting symbols of many unions. DEBORAH OCHENI recently ran into a section of the popular Wuse Market where couples trade their highly priced bridal wears for cash
At first it looked like fable from one of the Nollywood series until the reporter’s interaction with some of them revealed the unimaginable true story. But the truth is that the level of hardship in the country has reached an alarming rate. Who will ever think of a couple who are barely six months old in marriage letting go of their precious symbol and reminder of their marital vow just to meet up with their needs? While some are in this act because it is the only available means left for them to survive, others are selling it because of increase in value of the dollar (foreign exchange) which invariably boosts the price of foreign made wears.
Wedding rings
Wedding rings are a symbol of faithfulness and everlasting love between a husband and his wife. It is meant to be a lasting reminder of your special wedding day but the reverse seems to be the case now as couples desirous of surviving the recession now take to selling these otherwise life time souvenirs. A woman in her early 40s who simply identified herself as Gloria said she is not happy selling her wedding band but after discussing and analysing the situation with her husband, they have to sell it in order to pay the children’s school fees and attend to other needs.
“You and I know that it is strange for a woman to sell her wedding ring no matter what but that is the only thing I can count on for now and after discussing with my husband, he understood the situation and gave me his consent. My marriage is just 11 years old but I have to take this ugly decision to save my children (tears rolling her cheeks) from the unbearable ugly situation facing us.
My husband was sacked from a construction company last year and we have been managing to survive since then, I have sold many of my valuables to cater for our feeding and I have to sell my wedding ring,” she told Inside Abuja. When Inside Abuja inquired to know how much she will make from it, Gloria said: “It weighed 3.6 carat at 14000 per carat so everything is N64,400. I only need N40,000 to balance up my children’s school fees even my friend that promised to borrow me the money changed her mind for the fear that I will not be able to repay.”
Wedding band
Similar to Gloria’s condition is that of Mrs. Ene Ocheme, a business woman from Benue State.
Ocheme took to selling her wedding band just five months after her wedding. Her words: “My mission in Abuja is to sell my golden wedding band to start up a business. My husband lost his job and life has not been easy ever since he lost his job. We have been praying and believing God that he secure another job.
I am a graduate too, but I have no job. So, I decided to drop my ego and start up a business no matter how little because it is really embarrassing when I see my husband asking people to borrow him money and they disappoint him at the end of the day. The one that even made me to take this ugly decision is that he was invited for a job interview but he didn’t go for the interview because we couldn’t source for transportation fare from Makurdi to Lagos.”
Ocheme added that her husband is not aware of her decision to sell her wedding band. She, however, assures that the husband will not be too angry with her if he eventually find out because she intends to do something big and better with the money realised from the sale. “When I told my husband that we should sell our wedding band he said no because the marriage is too young for that but I will be able to calm him with the outcome of my business.
I will also make him understand that the ring has to go for our marriage to stand because my parents were sceptical of his ability to take care of me. So, I feel it’s too early for me to start complaining to my parents. I believe everything is going to be fine and I will get a better wedding band and take it to the priest for blessing.”
Pure business
While Gloria and Ocheme sold their wedding band to meet up with critical urgent needs, Halima Isah, a beautiful young woman from Minna, Niger State said she is selling her wedding band now that FOREX is high so that she can make profit from it.
“What is the big deal in selling wedding band? Even if I don’t sell I will still change it for another one so I don’t think it makes any difference. I wedded in 2009 and then one gram of gold was sold for N7,500 and now a gram is N14,000. It will be stupid of me to keep the band and allow exchange rate to drop because the price will drop as soon as dollar drops,” Isah said. Inside Abuja’s meeting with Mr. Uzo, an Abuja-based business man in the company of his wife at Wuse gold market confirmed that both couple agreed to sell their band in order to make profit.
“My wife and I are here to sell our gold wedding ring so that we can add the money to our business. It is just like selling your car when you are in need of money moreover the price has really appreciated. So, we are not loosing anything. We will get another one when the price drops until then, we will get GL ring which is also durable,” he told our correspondent.
Buyer’s reaction
As weird as selling of wedding band sounds, the buyers are happily and readily available to buy them. Another fascinating thing about this business is the fact that buyers have cash readily available to give to seller in exchange for their wedding band. “They should even thank God that they have something to exchange for money, that is the essence of buying gold, it is always useful and the owner will readily get buyers whenever he or she want to sell them,” was the response of Alhaji Mohammed Usman, gold merchandiser.
When Inside Abuja asked Usman of what he will do with used accessories he buys, he said: “Now that dollar is high, those who are selling their used gold accessories are gaining very well because of high foreign exchange rate, we are buying them at a very high rate now, we will either take them to Dubai where they will melt them and do another thing with it or clean them and resell.”
Clergy’s position
Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Omonu, parish priest, Holy Spirit Imane, condemned the act, saying that the ring is meant to be the symbol of their faithfulness and love. “Their reasons for indulging in such act varies and I am not even sure if it is the blessed wedding ring but in situation that it is their original blessed wedding ring then it is not the best because it was blessed for them to use as the symbol of their faithfulness and love and not to be sold out.
“It is not the best and it will go a long way to show that they lack trust in God because if they have trust in God, God can provide their need without them necessarily selling off their wedding ring. They should have gone to the extent of selling their blessed wedding ring because it is for a purpose that it was blessed for them.”
He however said if the couple buy another ring and present it for blessing it will still serve as a symbol of their faithfulness and love since it carries the same blessing as the one sold. “if they bring another one for blessing the blessing will be same but physically it is not the same, marritally, it shows lack of trust in God because it is an intentional act.”

UN under fire for picking Wonder Woman to lead campaign.
UN Secretary General Banki Moon |
The announcement came a few days after Antonio Guterres, the former prime minister of Portugal, was chosen to be the next secretary general, disappointing women’s groups who had campaigned for the first woman to be appointed the world’s diplomat-in-chief.
“It’s ridiculous,” said Shazia Rafi, one of the leaders of the She4SG campaign and a former secretary general of Parliamentarians for Global Action.
“The campaign for women’s empowerment is represented by a cartoon when there are so many real-life women who could have been chosen,” she said.
Rafi, who has written to Ban urging him to skip the ceremony, is pushing for a boycott of the event on Friday, demanding that Wonder Woman be dropped from the campaign.
“It should be scrapped,” she told AFP.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric hit back at the criticism, saying the choice of Wonder Woman was simply an attempt to reach younger audiences.
“In order to reach young people, in order to reach audiences outside this building, we need to be creative,” he told reporters.
But Rafi rejected that explanation, saying “younger women are no longer looking at themselves and think they need to be dressed in cleavage and bustiers to be taken seriously.”
The UN spokesman urged critics to wait for the formal announcement on Friday before drawing any conclusions about the goals of the year-long campaign.
The initiative, dubbed “All the Wonders We Can Do,” will focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment, one of the UN’s global goals for the next 15 years.
DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson is set to attend the event along with “surprise guests” — possibly actress Lynda Carter, who portrayed Wonder Woman in the hit TV series in the 1970s.
“Yes it’s a comic book, it’s science fiction,” Dujarric said after fielding several questions about the choice of Wonder Woman.
“I wish I could use my lasso of truth.”

EFCC detains Obanikoro, grills two high court judges.
Obanikoro, who had remained in the United States of America since mid-2015, went straight to the Abuja office of the EFCC immediately after his arrival in Nigeria on Monday from the US.
An aide to the former minister told one of our correspondents on the telephone that Obanikoro, who reported to the commission by 1.20pm on Monday, had not been released by 8.59pm.
A company, Sylvan McNamara, allegedly owned by Obanikoro’s sons, was said to have received N4.7bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser under Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) in June, 2014.
Sources at the anti-graft agency said after Obanikoro allegedly handed over N1.219bn to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and N1.3bn to Senator Iyiola Omisore, the then Osun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, he directed that about N759,384,300 should be transferred into the accounts of about six bureau de change operators.
The two bureau de change operators that received the bulk of the funds were A.A.G.B.S. Oil and Gas and North Line Limited.
While A.A.G.B.S. received N168m on June 16, 2014, North Line Limited received N835, 000 on July 14; N83,750,000 on June 17; N1,680,000 on September 3, 2014; about N2,325, 300 on September 9; N5,932, 500 on September 17 and N842,500 on July 30.
An aide to Obanikoro, who accompanied the ex-minister to the EFCC, told the commission that he visited a bureau de change operator on the instruction of Obanikoro and collected over $1m on behalf of the ex-minister and handed it over to him (ex-minister).
Obanikoro could not deny the statement when confronted with the evidence including receipts.
Sources at the EFCC told The PUNCH that Obanikoro informed them that he was ill and was on medication. He pleaded with the commission to let him go home.
He specifically told them that he had recently had a spinal cord surgery and was still recuperating.
Obanikoro was said to have arrived at the commission with a bag containing drugs, toiletries and other items.
“He has been cooperating with us. He has made useful statements but we still need him to shed more light on the main issues.
“He came with a bag load of drugs and told us that he was treating himself. We will keep him here for now,” a source in the EFCC said.
Detectives were said to have assured the ex-minister that the EFCC had a clinic and an ambulance in case of emergency.
Obanikoro was said to have insisted that the money he received was not part of the $15bn arms scam but from the imprest account, a special account belonging to the ONSA.
When contacted on the telephone, Obanikoro’s lawyer, Mr. James Onoja (SAN), told one of our correspondents that his client was cooperating with the EFCC.
Onoja said his priority was to get Obanikoro out on bail.
When asked about Obanikoro’s health, he said, “I am not a medical doctor; so, I cannot give any expert opinion on his health. He is cooperating with the EFCC now and he surrendered himself willingly to them, which shows that he has nothing to hide. Hopefully, we will be able to get him out on bail tomorrow (today).”
In a statement by his media aide, Jonathan Eze, Obanikoro commended the EFCC for its professionalism and pledged that he would continue to cooperate with the commission.
The statement read partly, “Senator Musiliu Obanikoro arrived in Abuja this morning and headed straight to the office of the EFCC. This is consequent upon an invitation sent to him by the anti-graft body, which was received on June 15, 2016, coincidentally, at a time he was pursuing a postgraduate degree in the United States.”

Enyeama shouldn’t return to Eagles – Dosu.
Festus Abu.
Dosu Joseph has warned France-based goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama not to reverse his decision to retire from international football, saying he could regret it for the rest of his life if he decides to bow to pressure to return to the Super Eagles.
Enyeama, who is Nigeria’s most-capped footballer, retired from the national team in October last year after falling out with the then Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh following the announcement of Ahmed Musa as the team’s new captain.
“I have fought a good fight for more than 13 years. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion,” the Lille custodian wrote on Instagram.
“Henceforth, there is laid for me a crown which only God can reward me for my 13 years of national service.”
The 34-year-old is believed to be under pressure from Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr and some football personalities in the country to come out of international retirement – to play a part in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Rohr told reporters ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania that he had spoken with Enyeama about returning to the Eagles.
The German was quoted as saying recently that the former national team captain would return if the Eagles qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
And former Nigeria keeper Dosu, who has expressed concern over the development, wants Enyeama to focus on his club career and forget about international football.
“It’s up to him (Enyeama) to decide if he wants to return to the Eagles,” the Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games gold medallist told our correspondent on the telephone on Monday.
“He did very well in the national team – and was the best keeper in Africa.
“It’s unfortunate that he decided to retire from international football to concentrate on his club career.
“Since he has retired from the national team, I would advise him to enjoy his retirement.
“He’s a gentle guy and I don’t know what will happen if he decides to return to the Eagles.”
The former Julius Berger star says Rohr should keep faith with Wolverhampton Wanderers keeper Carl Ikeme, saying “he has done well so far”.
Dosu, who hailed the Eagles for their 2-1 defeat of Zambia’s Chipolopolo in their opening Russia 2018 World Cup Group B qualifier at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on October 9, urged Rohr to work on his defence ahead of the qualifier against Algeria in Uyo on November 12.
He insists the Eagles will not be a bunch of frightened rabbits against the star-studded Desert Foxes, saying the three-time African champions have the quality to stop their Leicester City’s attacking duo Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez, who spearhead the Algerians’ bid to run out winners.

Mr Adekoya Martins, Acting Head, LASU’s Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.Martins told NAN that the number of students to be offered admission on the merit list could not be ascertained by the university because it was being handled by JAMB.
He said the university had sent a list of the successful candidates for the first batch of its admission screening to JAMB for approval.
“Information reaching me from the admission office is that JAMB will release the merit list this week, but the number of the admitted students is undisclosed.
“We cannot actually determine the number of students that JAMB will approve for us in the first batch from the list that was sent to the board by the university,’’ he said.
According to him, the screening form for the second list will be out as soon as the merit list candidates are released.
He said that only candidates that choose the university as second choice could purchase the form.
Martins said sequel to the exercise for the screening of the second list candidates, a supplementary list would also be released.
NAN reports that LASU had adopted an online screening approach for the admission of candidates for the 2016/2017 academic session.
The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, told NAN that only candidates who chose LASU would be screened online.
Fagbohun said that an online application portal had already been designed for the candidates to upload their results, certificates and other relevant data.
“The university will go online and shortlist the credentials of successful candidates, who chose LASU as their first choice for onward transmission to JAMB,’’ he said.

MASSOB Vows To Stop Ofala, New Yam Festivals.
By Anayo Okoli & Francis Igata ENUGU—
The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, yesterday, warned traditional rulers in the south-east geopolitical zone to henceforth, jettison the idea of ofala celebrations and new yam festivals following their inability to demand the release of detained Radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafran agitators who have been detained since October 10, last year.
MASSOB also revealed that it will call for a revolution in all Igbo communities if by December, Nnamdi Kanu was not released, adding that Ndigbo will not celebrate Christmas with Kanu still in detention.
The pro-Biafra group said the traditional rulers lost relevance when they failed to speak up for the release of their subjects in detention which includes; Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi, Innocent Orji, Sabastine Amadi and Benjamin Onwuka in prisons across the country.
It equally took a swipe at Igbo elites, religious leaders, politicians among others who they have labeled as insensitive to the Biafra struggle, wondering when Igbo will get personalities like; Senator Ali Ndume (Senate leader); Sultan of Sokoto and Emir of Kano; Senator Bola Tinubu and Gov Ayo Fayose who stand up for the struggle of their people.
An infuriated MASSOB warned the traditional rulers in a statement signed and made available to Vanguard by their leader Uchenna Madu, which read: ”Why must Igbo traditional rulers continue to celebrate Ofalas and new yam festivals while their Biafran subjects are still in detention for Igbo cause? We will stop these celebrations forthwith.
What are the religious leaders still preaching while our brethren are still in prisons? We demand that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others will not spend Christmas in prisons again or an internal native revolution will start in Igboland. “MASSOB blasts Igbo religious, traditional, political and opinion leaders for their nonchalant and insensitive attitude concerning the plight of detained Biafra agitators in Nigeria prisons.
The non- violent struggle for Biafra is a reactionary revolution against the continued neglect, political injustices/imbalance of federal structures against Ndigbo by successive government of Nigeria since 1970. We are in this self determination struggle because of political, economical, academical and religious slavery which the government of Nigeria subjected Ndigbo into in Nigeria.
We and other genuine pro-Biafra groups are in the struggle because of the grand plan to islamize the people of Biafra with subtle and harsh economic policies. We are in the struggle to counter and correct the evil plot to enslave our children and their future. We are in the struggle to re-establish and revive the tenacity, economic independence and industrial nature of Ndigbo which astonished the world in 1950-70’s.
Truly, we are in the struggle to restore the dignity, culture and integrity of Ndigbo. “Majority of Igbo leaders have brazenly betrayed the Igbo cause and interest in Nigeria.” Ohaneze youths indict Igbo political leaders Equally, Ohaneze Youth Council, OYC, said that it would team up with Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, to sanitize Igbo land and punish Igbo politicians who have not done anything to improve the lives of Ndigbo.
OYC said that it was in agreement with MASSOB that most Igbo political actors have failed to put the interest of Ndigbo first in their actions and need to be called to order. The group said that they have started compiling names of those they would handle. A statement by OYC signed by Alex Okemiri said: “While there is obvious external marginalization of Ndigbo, there is also the internal marginalisation by our own people.
What do our governors do with the money that percolates to Igbo land? Most of them use it to buy lands, houses and choice properties all over the world. Some of them travel all over the world at every opportunity. They owe pensioners and workers for months . They do not care about the youths. “We are now compiling the list of such politicians and we shall hand over the list to MASSOB for proper sanction while we shall also carry out our own sanctions.
The categories are former governors, some former and serving senators, failed contractors, about 3 serving Igbo governors, former and serving ministers, former commissioners, and those who benefitted from Jonathan’s election funds. “Infact, if by December this year, such failed politicians fail to turn a new leaf, they will leave Igboland for us because we cannot tolerate such people in our midst again. They cannot stay in Igbo land and use our resources to better only their lives and the lives of their girlfriends and hangers on while their subjects suffer unduly. “Igbo contractors also given contracts in Igboland who fail to execute such contracts creditably will also face the music.”

Managing an economy in recession difficult, says Emefiele.
Everest Amaefule, Abuja.
Managing an economy in recession is a difficult task but also presents challenges that are surmountable, the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has said.
Emefiele said this while receiving members of the Senate Committee on Finance, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, who paid an oversight visit to the apex bank in Abuja on Monday.
The CBN boss said the situation in the country required the cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders, and expressed delight at the support that the bank had received from lawmakers in the past.
He said, “I am delighted that not only the committee but the entire Senate has worked closely with the Central Bank of Nigeria, receiving constant briefings about our activities and some of the things we have done to lift our country from the current situation that we are to prosperity.
“I must confess that it is difficult, but I must also say that the challenges are easily surmountable. We will continue to crave the support of the Senate; we will continue to crave the support of the committee, just as you have done in the past, to help achieve the common objective of lifting our country and making Nigeria an inhabitable place for Nigerians.”
The Chairman of the committee, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, said the oversight visit was imperative because of the current economic situation in the country.
He said, “At this time, we are officially in recession; we believe that we have to work more together more than before. Even for those that have dual citizenship, Nigeria will still be number one.
“In the area of monetary policy, most Nigerians believe that most of the policies have failed because of the problem of recession.”
Although journalists were not allowed into the meeting, Ibrahim who spoke after the closed-door session, identified the areas of interest of the committee to include the performance of the 2016 budget, efforts being made to get the nation out of recession, and the state of the banks.

Food Importation: Nigeria At Risk Of Hunger, Says Dangote.
He said that the nation was at the risk of hunger in the next few years if the mass food importation was not checked.
Dangote made this assertion in lagos on Monday while addressing some students of the Executive MBA class of the Lagos Business School who visited the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery.
He said, “Ninety-eight per cent of all the milk and dairy products we consume in Nigeria are imported.
“This is why Dangote Group has planned to develop dairy plants, and develop homegrown milk production, to reduce importation.
“By 2020, it is estimated that the Nigerian population would have risen to between 207 million and 210 million. If we do not make efforts to grow and process our own foods, God forbid, we will go hungry.
“We have been in talks with the Central Bank of Nigeria on ways we can add value to our local produce, and we have marked massive dairy production for the next three years.
“We cannot solve all Nigeria’s problems, but at least we can embrace and add value to areas where we have comparative advantage.”
He said that Dangote Group was the most capitalised company on the stock exchange, with investments which include six ongoing projects that would create not less than 250,000 jobs across the nation.
He said that the refinery, which primarily majored in gas plants, petrochemicals and fertilizer production, could generate an annual foreign exchange savings and earnings of $15bn dollars.
He said it would also generate up to 1500 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs in support services and logistics, which would also include up to 22,000 housing facilities.
Dangote also said that the East West Onshore Gas Gathering Section pipeline of the refinery was a $3bn investment specially dedicated to generate 12,000 mega watts of power for industries.
He urged the students and other potential entrepreneurs to endeavour to venture into businesses that they are familiar with.

Nigeria seeks $15bn upfront oil payment from India.
Okechukwu Nnodim and ’Femi Asu.
NIGERIA has commenced negotiations with the Indian government for the release of $15bn as upfront payment for crude oil purchase.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, disclosed this on Monday.
The minister was quoted to have said in a statement signed by the Director, Press, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Idang Alibi, that the deal would be in consideration for Indian public sector companies collaborating with Nigeria in the refining sector as well as exploration and production activities.
He explained that the collaboration would be on a government-to-government basis by Indian PSU companies, long-term contracts for supply of crude to such firms by Nigeria, and executing city gas distribution.
Kachikwu, who is currently on a three-day visit to India, was said to have concluded talks on the investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector in a bilateral meeting with the Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
The statement said both ministers noted the existing and significant engagement between the two countries in the hydrocarbon sector, while acknowledging that Nigeria is one of the largest trading partners of India in Africa, especially in terms of crude oil and gas.
It said in 2015, India imported nearly 23.7 million metric tonnes of crude (nearly 12 per cent of the country’s overall imports) and over two million metric tonnes of Liquefied Natural Gas from Nigeria.
The statement read in part, “Following this negotiation, the two countries have agreed to work on a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate investments by India in the Nigerian oil and gas sector, and specifically in areas such as term contract, participation of Indian companies in the refining sector, oil and gas marketing, upstream ventures, the development of gas infrastructure and in the training of oil and gas personnel in Nigeria.
“The MoU is expected to be firmed up in December during Petrotech-2016. Both ministers also agreed to strengthen the existing cooperation in oil and gas sector, and in particular to explore investment opportunities for Indian public and private sector companies in Nigeria.”
On the sidelines of the visit, Kachikwu had one-on-one meetings with top executives of Indian public sector oil and gas companies, and representatives of some private firms, the statement said.
Reuters quoted the minister as saying that the nation’s oil production rate was expected to jump by 22 per cent by the year-end to 2.2 million barrels per day from current levels, adding that he hoped a force majeure on all its oil fields would be lifted by December or January.
Kachikwu told reporters, “Nigeria has a bit of a cash flow problem right now. Our reserves are not as strong as we want them. The impact of that is the value of the naira is coming down.
“So, what we are trying is to leverage the assets we have to receive immediate cash.”

Boko Haram Sets New Conditions To Free 83 More Chibok Girls.
*Group may demand ransom, swap of 16 detained top commanders
*Office of National Security Adviser: Terrorism has overstretched security agencies
*No disquiet in the military over sect leaders in detention – DHQ
*UN Secretary General hails 21 girls’ release
As negotiations for the expected next phase of the release of 83 Chibok girls begins this week, there were indications, last night, that the leadership of the Boko Haram sect might table two major conditions to be met by the Federal Government to seal the deal.
A source close to the negotiations confided in Sunday Vanguard that unlike the 21 girls, who were freed by the sect, last Thursday, to test government’s level of commitment and sincerity, the release of the remaining girls may be based strictly on ransom payment and freedom for no fewer than 16 of Boko Haram commanders by the government. The government, it was learnt, was eager to get the remaining 83 girls, reportedly held by a top leader of the sect in an undisclosed location in the North East. Of the 219 girls still missing, a source said that only 104 were left in the captivity of the sect while the rest had long been married off by top commanders and converted to Islam.
“The truth is that those Chibok girls are now Boko Haram members, having married the sect members and become radicalised,” the source said. “The remaining 83 girls are with a top leader of Boko Haram and those are the only ones we are going to work for their release in the next phase of our negotiations which starts immediately. “
The others had since become Boko Haram members, having been married off and radicalised into Boko Haram as soon as they were captured over two years ago”. But Sunday Vanguard learnt that the representatives of the sect, who are meeting with a Federal Government team, might insist on payment upfront of huge cash by government before freeing the captives.
“I think the guys are settled on the idea that the cash must come ahead of the release since they had proved to government that they are reliable by releasing the 21 girls, last week, without many conditions attached”, the source stated. Asked if the sect leaders were unsure of government’s sincerity to keep its own side of the bargain, the source said that the representatives of Boko Haram had also shown that they have confidence in government. It was learnt that the lingering challenge in getting back all the girls arose from the fact that while some of them are with a faction loyal to Benawhi, the rest are being kept by the group loyal to Abubakar Shekau. But one of the negotiators believed the remaining 83 girls would be freed if a meaningful deal is struck between the sect and the Federal Government.
Threats Meanwhile, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has said that threats posed by terrorism and violent extremism in parts of Nigeria have not only stretched law enforcement agencies but have also exposed the gap in the nation’s capacity to deal with asymmetric warfare.” Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Center (CTC) in ONSA, Commodore Yem Musa, who stated this in at a one-day ‘Strategic Communication Analytical Technique Exercise’ in Abuja, said that violent extremist groups were more adapted to using strategic communication than government.
“Through this exercise, we will explore how strategic communication must be a first order capability in the armed forces, law enforcement and intelligence agencies as well as strategic MDAs of government”, Musa said. Musa explained that the nature of asymmetric warfare and the liberalization of information access through the social media has made it imperative for any state actor serious about its national security to develop efficient and effective use of Strategic Communication. He noted that the threat from terrorists, insurgent groups and other non-state actors in the country, has called for enhanced capacity and holistic measures to deal with the emerging security challenges.
The CTC boss however, expressed regret that whereas the non-state actors in the country have perfected effective use of the social media, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to deadly effect, the government is still playing a catch-up role. He said: “The increasing discourse on strategic communication among stakeholders in Nigeria can be linked to the growing body of research on, and practice of counter-terrorism laws, policies and strategy.
This, too, is as a result of a new kind of threat hitherto unknown to us. Musa informed stakeholders at the exercise that “strategic communication is a crucial and relevant tool for counter terrorism and counter insurgency and permeates all governance structures and enhance national security and well-being”. At the end of the exercise, participants agreed on the need to develop a common lexicon on strategic communication across MDAs in Nigeria.
Remaining captives must be free – UN Secretary General
In a related development, United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, yesterday, commended the efforts of the Federal Government that paid off with the release of the 21 Chibok girls on Thursday. A statement from the UN Secretariat in New York stated that the Secretary-General also called on the international community to assist Nigeria in securing the release of the remaining girls from Boko Haram’s grip.
The statement read: “The Secretary-General welcomes the reported release of 21 Chibok schoolgirls, following more than two years of captivity.
“He remains deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of the remaining schoolgirls and other victims of abduction by Boko Haram, who are still in captivity. “The Secretary-General urges the international community to continue supporting the government of Nigeria in its efforts to secure their release, rehabilitation and reintegration.
“He calls for increased efforts to ensure additional humanitarian access in the north-east of Nigeria, and reiterates the continued commitment of the United Nations in this regard.
“The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, in his capacity as High Representative for Nigeria, continues to engage with the Nigerian authorities and international partners on this matter.”

BBOG disowns fund-raising by Buhari’s daughter, peace corps.
BBOG disowns fund-raising by Buhari’s daughter, peace corps.
Adelani Adepegba, Abuja
The #BringBackOurGirls coalition, has disowned a fund-raising organised in its name by President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hadiza and a group, the Peace Corps of Nigeria, on Monday in Abuja.
The BBOG urged the public to disregard attempts at linking it to “this highly suspicious event.”
A non-governmental organisation, run by Hadiza, Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the ‘Chibok Girls Endowment Project’ with the the Peace Corps during which N3m was said to have been raised for the Chibok schoolgirls.
But the BBOG in a statement by Co-coordinators, Oby Ezekwesili and Aisha Yusuf, said it was not a party to the alleged fund-raising, noting that it was shocked and perplexed by the use of its name at the event.
The coalition said after 902 days of advocacy for the release of the abducted Chibok girls, it was disheartening to see attempts by external actors to use its name for selfish purposes.
The movement noted that it had carefully built its reputation as a well-organised and disciplined global movement that is completely self-funded, adding that it had contacted its lawyer, Femi Falana and was considering a response to the attempt to smear its name.
The statement read, “Following repeated enquiries from the media, we stumbled upon information of an event tagged “Official Inauguration and Signing of Memorandum of Understanding on the Chibok Girls Endowment Project” organised by the “Peace Corps of Nigeria” and “Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative”, with Hadiza Buhari-Bello.
“We are shocked, perplexed and completely dumbfounded to see the bold inscription of our hard-earned name, #BringBackOurGirls, on the event’s backdrop.
“We state categorically that we are not party to the said event and have absolutely no information of its origin. We urge the general public to disregard attempts at linking our movement to this highly suspicious event.”
“Together with our lawyers, Femi Falana & Co., we are considering a response to this attempt to smear our movement.
“We call on the general public and law enforcement agencies to be on the look-out for unscrupulous persons who may already be/are planning similar nefarious acts to deceive the local and international community.”
The group said it was a citizens’ movement and not a non-governmental organisation, hence the decision to fund its activities by sacrificial contributions of members.
“It will be highly injurious to allow it be dragged in the mud at this point. We therefore demand an immediate retraction and unreserved apology from the organizers,” it stated.
Nigerian Man Who Has 97 Wives: God Gives Me Power To Satisfy Them Sexually.
A Nigerian man, with 97 wives and over 190 children, identified as Alhaji Pa Bello Abubakar Masaba said that God in his wisdom has given him the power and strength to satisfy his wives sexually.
Masaba from Niger State, is an Islamic scholar and faith healer who was detained in 2008 for not keeping the sharia law of marrying not more than four wives.mallam1.
He refused the order by a sharia court to make do with about 82 of his wives, a move that would have left him with just four wives at that because he later married more.
When the case dragged into an Abuja High Court, he was released after 57 of the wives testified that they married him willingly.
Masaba told newsmen during the weekend in Bida, Niger State how he continues to make history as Nigeria’s most prolific man, by marrying even more wives every time he comes across a new ‘Miss Right’.mallam2
He said, “In his wisdom, God has given me the power and strength to give them the sexual portion they need. If I didn’t satisfy them, they would leave.”
There had been rumours that the 87-year-old polygamist recently died after a brief illness, but he has come out to debunk the report, saying he is alive and well.

Femi Otedola No Longer A Billionaire As Forte Oil Shares Fizzle - Forbes.com
Oil tycoon’s fortune plunges to $550 million from $1.8 billion
Nigerian businessman Femi Otedola‘s net worth has plunged from $1.8 Billion to $550 Million following a massive drop in the stock price of Forte Oil, the Nigerian Stock Exchange-listed petroleum marketing company.
As at the close of tradingon Friday, Forte Oil’s share price plunged to a one-year low of N145 ($0.44) per share, down from an all-time high of N342 ($1.1) in March this year when FORBES published its annual ranking of the world’s richest people.
Apart from the tumble in Forte Oil’s stock price, Otedola’s fortune has also been adversely affected by a central bank devaluation of the Naira in June. In dollar terms, the devaluation in addition to Forte’s floundering share price has knocked about $1.3 billion off the value of Otedola’s fortune which was pegged at $1.8 billion in March.
Otedola, who is Forte Oil Plc’s Chairman, is now worth only $550 million as at the close of business ofFriday, according to the FORBES’ billionaires’ database.
Femi Otedola was unavailable for comments. However, an analyst at a Lagos-based Investment bank hinted that the share price drop may not be unconnected to the current recession in Nigeria that has witnessed 2 consecutive quarters of negative growth with inflation soaring to levels as high as 17%.
Investors are dumping Forte Oil’s shares as a result of wide-spread disappointing results of Nigerian Companies of which Forte Oil Plc is also not immune. The company’s profit after tax was down at N2.80 billion ($8.8 million) for the third quarter ended Sept 30 2016 as against N4.28 billion ($13.5 million) for the same period in 2015. Sources also attribute the results to reduced demand for energy consumption as a result of the recently increased pump price which has adversely affected the fortunes of oil marketing companies in Nigeria.
With a fortune now pegged at only $550 million, Otedola falls out of the ranking of Africa’s billionaires.
Forte Oil PLC is primarily engaged in the distribution of petroleum products such as diesel, aviation fuel and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The company has over 500 company-owned, dealer-assisted and dealer-developed gas stations spread across the country, oil storage depots in Lagos and Rivers states, a Power plant and a Joint User Hydrant Installation facility in Lagos. The company also sells its own range of automobile lubricants. Forte Oil Plc are also the owners and managers of the 435MW Geregu Power Plant in addition to also providing oilfield support services through its subsidiary, Forte Upstream Services.

Anita Oyakhilome's Name Change: Here Is The Real Gist.
Yesterday, rumours went viral that Christ Embassy Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's ex wife Anita may have remarried after a different surname showed up right beside her maiden name Ebhodaghe on her blog.
You recall that back in February 2016, Pastor Anita's marriage to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy was dissolved in the UK. And since then, she consistently ran an online portal where she blogs about various issues - www.pastoranita.org
The site was recently shut down for maintenance. Only to come back on with pronounced major
changes especially the one that sparked the viral rumours - on her latest blog post titled 'A Simple Prayer', Pastor Anita who used to bear Anita Ebhodaghe signed off as Anita Ebhodaghe Schafer
Since that newest post went live, rumors went rife that Pastor Anita has secretly remarried!
Well, here is the real gist about Pastor Anita's name change, according to insiders: It has nothing to do with her marital
status.
Upon the dissolution of her marriage, she had opted to revert back to her maiden name Ebhodaghe.
Pastor Anita is the eldest daughter of Mr. John U. Ebhodaghe, OFR, former MD/CEO of Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), and a Swiss mother. She has a dual citizenship and is reported to be very close to her Swiss mother who stays in London with her.
According to Kulgists, reverting to Ebhodaghe might have brought up some issues with her PR. She is likely to be concerned with her image as an international online Pastor and may have been advised to use a more “internationally appealing” name.
Who is Schafer?
The next available name was her mother’s Swiss name SchƤfer. Putting SchƤfer after her paternal name Ebhodaghe makes her Pastor Anita Edhodaghe Schafer. And if the conspiracy theory is true, then we will be seeing just Pator Anita Schafer, the London-based international pastor.
It is most likely that she may never remarry as she is devoting her time now to full time evangelism and pastoral work.
Again, Pastor Anita has not responded to any congratulatory message on her blog post.
But then, the circled comments below from Frau Glauben which congratulates Pastor Anita on her new name and saying the ceremony was beautiful point to the possibility that Pastor Anita has truly remarried. Pastor Anita approves all comments that are published on her website:
Congratulations Pastor Anita for your new name. We wish you all the best as you begin a new chapter in your life as you have moved on to the glory of God. Old things are passed away, behold all things have become new. It was such a beautiful ceremony. We are so excited for you and your family. We Rejoice with you, Pastor Anita Schafer. God bless you Ma.

UFO expert found dead after ‘vomiting black liquid’.
Tinubu Misled Yorubas Into Political Slavery – Sen Okurounmu.
By Daud Olatunji Senator Femi Okurounmu represented Ogun Central Senatorial district between 1999 and 2003. He served as a commissioner in Ogun State during the Second Republic administration of the first executive governor, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo.
He also held several political positions including Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Conference in 2014 under the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan administration. In this interview on the state of the nation, Okunrounmu, who called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over his poor handling of affairs, said he had warned Nigerians not to vote for Buhari in 2015.
He, among others, accused former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of misleading some Yoruba leaders into political slavery. Excerpts:
What is your assessment of the state of affairs in the country?
The situation in the country today has called for everyone to weep, like in the Bible, a prophet is weeping for Jerusalem, which means we all should weep for our country. The fate of our country, compared to how we were at independence is that we have been moving fast backward in the opposite direction.
Credit to founding fathers
We must give a lot of credit to our founding fathers and those who ruled us in the First Republic. They gave inspirational leadership; they gave us patriotism such that we want to serve our country and we want our country to move forward.
At that time, things were moving forward in Nigeria; infrastructure was first class, University was also first class compared to any university in the world. Secondary schools were first rate. They established industries and there was development in agriculture.
There were a lot of resources generated internally and each of the regions was so autonomous and there was healthy competition. This competition helped to move us forward because if the West was doing something, East would also do it and North would also follow.
Cursed nation since 1966
That was the period of progress in Nigeria. But since 1966 when the military took over, Nigeria has became a cursed nation, we have been going from one terrible period to another. When we talk of corruption, we saw corruption during the time of Gowon even worse in Murtala, Obasanjo, Babangida, Abacha and Abdulsalami’s time. Obasanjo didn’t do anything better.
Buhari’s administration worse than Jonathan’s govt
Buhari who is carrying the change mantra all about, his administration is worse than Jonathan’s. The whole country now has degraded very much, our leaders have degraded our humanity to animal kingdom. Buhari has no clue on how to revive the economy and yet we are carrying ‘change’ all about. I am happy with my conscience that I spoke out my mind during the election of 2015, I warned Nigerians not to vote for Buhari. I took out advertisements in newspapers on why we should not vote for Buhari. Even though Jonathan didn’t fight corruption, I asked us to vote for Jonathan so that we can restructure this country but people were crying ‘change’ in an ignorant manner.
Are you calling for regional system?
I have been consistent in the last 20 years in calling for the return of regional system because the regional system of government brings about good government.
Rapid progress
When we had regional system of government Nigeria was moving forward and making rapid progress. Most of the things we are seeing now were made by the First Republic government.
Buhari’s government is just a year and four months, is it not too early to say he is worse than Jonathan?
The morning shows the day. A man who runs four times for President, one would have assumed that he has plans to address the problems of this country. He tried in 2003 to run for President and also in 2007 and 2011 while 2015 was his fourth attempt. One can’t run for President without making plans and also analysing how he is going to rule and try to do something to solve the problem. I believe he has been following the problems of this nation since before 2003 and had drawn plans he would pursue, if he became President.
So, that his government is young is not an excuse at all. He didn’t just wake up one morning and to find himself as President.
Problem of the nation
He had once ruled the nation as a military Head of State, so, he was more familiar than others who became head of state without knowing the problem of the nation.
Since he came to power, he has not made any impact. Unemployment has increased and he promised us jobs, instead of jobs, he is increasing unemployment.
He also promised to improve the economy but many factories have closed down, all manufacturers are down even the banks are stretching, agriculture and electricity are down. He was just making empty promises. I think Buhari should just resign and say, ‘I am sorry I cannot go further.’
If he resigns, who do you think can go further, do you think his deputy is better?
I am not saying his deputy is better, what we need in this country is a social revolution not violent revolution.
In that kind of arrangement, do you think Nigeria will still be better of?
In this country, we need someone, who has been agonising the way I have been agonising; it is that kind of anger that will make somebody to perform. In every country where you have a sudden change forward, it is anger against the status quo that propels the change.
How best do you think Buhari should fight corruption?
The way to fight corruption is that he should start from all the cases that have been investigated before him. We know Nuhu Ribadu investigated many governors. All the political actors since 1999 who have been investigated; most of them are still working free because they have not been prosecuted.
You must chain people who have stolen. Apart from recovering the loot, you must also put them in jail. Also their relations, let the society scold them. But now, all those who stole are the ones given chieftaincy titles, they are the ones being given front seats in every social gathering. In this country, we encourage corruption but if we start putting them in jail and shunning them they will sit back.
Some people believe that the energy dispensed on chasing corrupt people should have been used to revive the economy, where do you stand?
There is need to do both, it is not physical energy you use to fight corrupt people. There is a department of the government that investigates corruption and charges people to court, that doesn’t stop the President from reviving the economy.
And to revive the economy, you need some experts, you alone can not do it. You need brilliant minds not just economists because, it is not all economists that can do it. There are a lot of patriots and nationalists who know what is good for people, let the country eat the fruit of their work.
On Niger Delta crises, what advice will you give to Federal Government, is it force or dialogue?
The Niger Delta crises would go maybe when we restructure. People should control their resources. Niger Delta people are not taking it out of the country, they are still in Nigeria, whatever companies exploiting the resources would still be paying tax to the Federal Government. America also has oil but private companies operate it and pay tax to the government.
Political connection
So, there is no problem about that, let the people of Niger Delta control their resources. If they are controlling them they won’t be damaging oil and gas pipelines and bombing facilities.
Northerners are feeding from the oil and they are getting fat on crude oil from Niger Delta because with political connection they get oil blocs and make money. Let us restructure Nigeria, if we do, everyone will benefit from it.
What are Yoruba leaders doing about what is happening in the country?
If we are talking about Yoruba, it is a bad situation because the leadership in Yoruba got hijacked by a person who does not fit classically into the definition of an ‘Omoluabi’ from the authentic Afenifere leadership.
If we look at the last election, Yoruba people were misled. The masses voting for APC were crying ‘change’ all about and I warned them through media publications, saying that all of you in the South-West and in the North are crying ‘change’ but what change means to northerners is different from what it means to Yoruba. Yoruba people, who were crying ‘change’ wanted change for better economy, better opportunities and infrastructure not corruption.
To the northerners, ‘change’ means one thing: change of leadership to the North.
They believe that northerners have been kept out of power for too long and they want the power that is what change means to them. They got the change they wanted because after Buhari got there most of the appointments went to the North, whereas the Yoruba were left carrying bags.
Lopsided appointments
We warned the APC leaders in Yoruba land that they should remember the son of whom they are.
But Yoruba leaders also cried out during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan that the appointments were lopsided…
There is no comparison between the lopsided appointments we had under Goodluck Jonathan and what we have under Buhari. Let’s go back to Jonathan’s time, a lot of things were caused by those who became APC leaders. When Jonathan got there he wanted a Yoruba woman, Mulikat Adeola, as the Speaker of the House of Representatives but it was one of those who became APC leaders from the South-West that said no, and went to support Aminu Tambuwal, who is now the governor of Sokoto State and frustrated our Yoruba person. That was the beginning of the act and a lot of imaginary acts were caused by APC. If we look at the degree of what we are now having, all appointments are going to the North and even the East are regretting being part of Nigeria. Everything goes to Fulani people, Jonathan didn’t do that.
Talking about the crisis in the APC, are you satisfied with the way former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is being treated by his people in APC?
I cannot pretend, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has been speaking but I don’t agree at all. I disagree with him in his position. We cannot condone what Tinubu did. Tinubu misled the Yoruba people and virtually, he has led us to slavery into subordination under the Fulani that we are now second class rated to the Fulani people and it is not because we didn’t know it will happen.
We knew and we warned him but he allowed his selfishness to take pride of place over the interest of Yoruba nation and he sold the Yoruba nation. If he’s now being denied of the same self-interest, I will say it serves him right, that will teach others not to be selfish.
The disease of the Yoruba man is selfishness, if we secure the group interest then our own personal interest will be achieved. If Tinubu hadn’t betrayed our self-interest we would have been in the forefront of restructuring, which had started more than 20 years ago.
Tinubu himself was part of those shouting that this nation must be restructured, which has been the cry of the Yoruba nation. What Tinubu is thinking is that if he gets Buhari into power he would be able to control Nigeria but Buhari has denied him that.
If Tinubu and his people come back to you elders, will you still maintain your stand?
He is the only person, who betrayed the nation, those you called his people were equally betrayed. That is why I said he misled Yoruba nation; the propaganda was too effective, he brainwashed everyone.
It was learned that Tinubu is trying go back to AD
Those who are foolish will follow him, I will never be part of AD, which Tinubu leads. Why should anyone say Tinubu should come and lead AD? He was the one who frustrated AD, he rebelled against Pa Abraham Adesanya. Adesanya almost gave his life, they shot him, he was only lucky that he escaped by whiskers and continued the struggle.
Adebayo, Adesanya and Adebanjo, etc., all these people were in prison after Abiola’s wife was murdered.
Coming to lead
Everyone knew that Abacha killed her but they went ahead to arrest these old men on the pretence that they were the ones who killed Kudirat. These people worked together to put AD together, when the party was being formed, Tinubu wasn’t around, he was abroad.
He came back after we had done the work, got voted in as governor of Lagos State and went ahead to rebel against everybody. He threw away Adesanya, Adebanjo, Sholanke Onasanya, he couldn’t listen to anybody. Is it the same AD he rebelled against that he is coming to lead?
What is your advice to Yoruba people?
My advice is that the Yoruba people should come together again and get our acts together but not by getting Tinubu to come and lead us again; otherwise he would mislead us again. Let us worship intelligence not money.

Man Catches Driver Having Sex With His Wife On Matrimonial Bed In Ogun State.
A 60-year-old trailer driver, Lawal Bankole, was weekend, almost lynched by a security guard, Abdullahi Muhammed, at Iya Abiodun area, Ifo, Ogun State, after he was caught having sex with the latter’s wife, Tope, on their matrimonial bed.
The 45-year-old embattled man, an indigene of Kano State, said Bankole took advantage of his wife’s unstable mental condition to rape her.
According to the Punch, Muhammed had returned from a trip to Lagos Island only to meet Bankole on top of his wife.
Narrating the incident, Muhammed said, “I had returned from my trip when I met him on top of my wife. I had a cutlass and a knife at home and I wanted to kill him. But I had a rethink and I decided to hold him.
“But he tore my clothes and bit me. He fought me and took hold of the cutlass; I held him. We were fighting when people separated us and he escaped.
“However, I held on to his trousers, which contained his driving licence, some cash, phones and ATM cards. I used the items as my evidence. I reported the matter at the Ifo Police Division after which he was arrested.
“My wife has mental problem, which started during her first marriage. She had a surgery that time, but there was a complication which led to the problem. Her ex-husband rejected her, saying he could not live with a mentally-ill person.
“Her family had taken her to different prayer houses for solution to no avail before I came into the picture. I assisted them with money and they decided to hand her over to me in marriage.
“I made sure she stayed indoors always. All she does is to cook and wash my clothes. However, once in a month, she goes to visit her mother and returns. We have a child together, who is about two years old. Her condition is improving, but she is not totally sound yet.”
Reports say the two men could have killed each other but for the intervention of residents who separated them.
The wife, 24-year-old Tope, said the suspect gave her N200, adding that she never met the man until the day he had canal knowledge of her.
Tope, an indigene of Osun State, said, “I have never met the man before. That day, he entered our compound and asked if I wanted to eat and I said yes.
He gave me N200 and went away.
“He later returned and asked me to UnCloth and I did. He put me on the bed and had sex with me. I knew he wasn’t my husband, but I couldn’t shout or do anything. Then my husband entered and caught him.
“The two men started fighting. I ran downstairs to call people. Our neighbours separated them.”
Confirming the incident and arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “The police have arrested the man and he has confessed to the crime.
“He took advantage of the woman’s mental condition and will be charged to court soon,” the PPRO stated.
