The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday insisted that the Presidency should make public all issues relating to the so-called private visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to London.
The party, which queried the Presidency for always shrouding issues around the President in secrecy, pointedly demanded a “full disclosure on the scope, purpose, direct destination, duration as well as the cost and source of the funding for this undisclosed tourism.”
A statement by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan sid President Buhari is not a “private citizen and cannot embark on private trips, wrapped in secrecy, since his upkeep draws directly from national resources and taxpayers’ money.”
The statement reads, “While the PDP has nothing against Mr. President embarking on any trip, we insist that as the President of the Federal Republic, there must be full disclosures to Nigerians because the citizens deserve to know the purpose of the visit and the cost on the nation.
“We know that Mr. President is billed to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled to take place between April 16 and
20, but Nigerians are wondering why he is taking off to an undisclosed destination in London two clear weeks ahead.
“We ask: Is President Buhari and his handlers hiding anything from Nigerians so much so that they cannot disclose the reason and duration of the so-called private visit?
“Nigerians are invited to note that this secret visit has a departure date but silent on the purpose, date and place of arrival.
“Today, our economy is hemorrhaging and the citizens are languishing because of the continued lack of accountability and total incompetence of the Buhari-led administration.
“The PDP insists that public officers at all levels, particularly theoccupier of the office of the President, must be accountable, transparent and answerable in all their dealings at all times, especially under an administration that claims zero tolerance for
corruption.”

Man Stood By His Girlfriend When She Had Cancer, Tells Story 2 Years Later
A man identified as as @AfricanCurator has taken to twitter to narrate on how his wife survived cancer after undergoing the painful process of chemotherapy.
According to him, he stood by her at the time when she needed him, even though they were just friends at that time. Her boyfriend and her friends left her in the terrible situation, but he stood by her.
He stated that he had to marry her off immediately she finished therapy and two years along the line, they are still waxing strong.
Read his story below:
When my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer they immediately took her in for surgery and after getting her breast removed she had to undergo intensive Chemotherapy sessions, for those who don’t know what Chemo is.
It’s where they flood your body with poison in hopes of killing the cancer but not killing you in the process. It’s intense, she had no appetite, continuos mouth sores, always feeling weak and losing weight. It broke her as she was always our pillar of strength.
My wife and I were just friends when she got diagnosed and I tried my level best to be there for her, but also cancer came with so much, it revealed a lot you know. Some ‘Friends’ left and even her selfish cunt of an ex did the same but we aren’t here for that.
She hated how she looked and would always mention it, called herself an Alien because of having no hair or eyebrows. I couldn’t do anything physically to change that and it hurt me so bad but I chose to cut my hair down also. She straight called me silly for this.
Also I will never forget how Jackie did something amazing for her by getting her Vault Cosmetics to touch up my wife for a day. Thank you so much for this. Had her smiling and laughing and overjoyed.
The battle was hard but we finished Chemo and Radiotherapy, she was a victor but what pained her was losing 4 friends she had made in Chemotherapy who unfortunately did not survive therapy.
This was the last day of Radiotherapy, she was our beautiful graduate hahaha, she had won a huge fight and all thanks to the family, true friends and God above all.
I didn’t waste no time after this lol, I straight away put a ring on it, jumped from friend zone to DZAAAADZY. We don’t play. Cancer took so much away from her and I swore an oath to give her more than it took.
Almost 2 years later here we are, happy, alive and fighting.

Abubakar Tsav to Ortom: I am sorry
By Emmanuel Antswen
Former Police Commissioner in Lagos state, Mr Abubakar Tsav, on Tuesday apologised to Governor Samuel Ortom, ten months after he wrote a letter accusing him of massive corruption.
Tsav had, in a 10-page letter dated May 16, 2017, which was copied to anti-graft agencies, accused Ortom of “executive recklessness”, saying that he had turned Benue into a private estate.
The former police officer, who is currently a Public Complaints Commissioner, accused Ortom of nepotism, saying that he had placed his family business – Oracle Business Ltd – above the state.
NAN recalls that a miffed Ortom promptly dragged Tsav to court, forcing the leadership of the Public Complaints Commission and the Tiv Traditional Council to wade into the matter in the effort to reconcile the duo.
The Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, advised Tsav to publicly apologize to the governor and retrieve the petitions against him within two weeks. Tsav ignored the advice.
On Aug. 3, 2017, Tsav told newsmen that he would not apologise, declaring that he was standing by his petitions.
But, in a dramatic twist on Tuesday, Tsav issued two letters of apology – one addressed to the Tor Tiv and the other to Ortom – in which he apologised for the “false whistleblowing letters”.
He claimed that the delay in issuing the apology was to enable him “study the situation”.
NAN reports that the apology to the governor was copied to the Presidency, EFCC, ICPC, DSS and the Chief Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission.
The letters, which had similar contents, stated that Tsav’s sudden decision to apologize was based on “recent information available to me which showed that my action was predicated on doubtful sources”.
“The information available to me indicate that the content of the letter emanated from a doubtful source.
“In the circumstance, I withdraw my earlier letter and apologise to you for any inconvenience this might have caused you and your government,” he said.
NAN reports that Tsav, as as a serving commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, was dragged before a Magistrate’s Court on June 19, 2017 for allegedly writing an inciting letter against Gov. Samuel Ortom, despite his immunity.
Mr Michael Gusa, Benue Commissioner for Justice, in an application for criminal prosecution, had alleged that Tsav wrote “an injurious and false letter against the governor and government of Benue”.
Gusa averred that the letter contravened section 143 (d), (c) and (e) of the Penal Code Laws of Benue state, Cap. 124, Laws of Benue State, 2004.

PDP chieftain takes on Obasanjo.
By Thompson Yamput
Mr. Alexander Mwolwu, Plateau PDP chieftain has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of plotting to discredit the party to promote Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Obasanjo, had in a statement made on Monday, told Nigerians not to take the apology offered by PDP some weeks ago serious and had described it as a corrupt political party.
Mwolwus told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Pankshin that Obasanjo’s pronouncement is “very unfortunate’’ and “selfish in nature’’.
While describing PDP’s apology to Nigerians through its National Chairman as “a right step in the right direction’’, he said: “Only great men own up to their mistakes.’’
“If PDP had apologised willingly having owned up to its mistakes, it shouldn’t be castigated for that because every human organisation has its own limitations.
“Even though Obasanjo’s plots to discredit PDP to promote his own political party, SDP, he seems to have missed it and does not know what he is doing. He is the most ungrateful and corrupt Nigerian leader, who never knew how PDP was formed.
“But all the same, his party will not be anywhere close to having the confidence of Nigerians if that is the way he wants to go drumming support for it.
“Obasanjo was never a member of PDP but out of sheer pity and magnanimity, the party brought him out of prison and made him president on a platter of gold, ’’ the chieftain alleged.
Mwolwus further stated, “we made him who he is today, yet he had the guts to spit and shout against us.’’
The PDP chieftain accused the ex-president of introducing corruption and corrupting the National Assembly with his third term failed ambition.
According to him, Obasanjo corruptly sold out government properties to his cronies and spent billions of Naira on electricity. Nigerians couldn’t see its impact but only darkness.
Mwolwus described The list of alleged looters released by the federal government on Sunday, as lopsided and unreal since the names of those who jumped from PDP to APC were omitted.
“By that list, President Buhari ended up disappointing his ardent admirers and supporters. If people who looted and jumped into APC and those in APC that were caught red handed are not on the list, but only PDP members, then there is question mark on it (list), ’’ Mwolwus said.
He called on Nigerians not to be bothered by the game plans of APC and Obasanjo, but should keep faith with PDP, which he said has realised its mistakes and wishes to give them a purposeful leadership in 2019.

"I Am The Igwe And Obi Of Yorubaland" - Abdulrasheed Akanbi, The Oluwo Of Iwo.
The embattled Oluwo of Iwoland, Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has said that God is using those against his lifestyle (swag) to make him popular, insisting that he has the right as a king to bear the tag ’emir’ and other kingship titles in Nigeria.
The traditional leader recently attracted a backlash when reports emanated that he had decided to bear the tag of ’emir’ rather than the established title of ‘oba’.
The monarch flayed his critics while speaking on a radio programme on Rave FM in Osogbo on Tuesday. He said by his actions, he seeks to upgrade Yoruba culture.
“How can you abandon who you are? Can you abandon king for king? Oba is our own word. I am an Oba and I will remain Oba for life. I only said I can also be referred to as an Emir. I am the Emir of Yorubaland, I am the Igwe of Yorubaland and the Obi of Yorubaland. I can bear all titles of kings. We have to upgrade and update our traditional culture, else, we will go into extinction.”
Mr Akanbi said he has started a cultural revolution which makes him wear ’emir’ regalia sometimes. “The northern traditional rulers admired my Emir regalia whenever I put it on but (I am) not getting support from Yoruba Obas and people.
“By saying that I can also be addressed as emir, I talked metaphorically. But some ‘bad-belle’ (unpleasant mannered) people are condemning me and telling lies against me. My enemies are making me known. God is using my enemies to promote me. Some people don’t like the way I add swags. I can’t help them. I want to upgrade our culture. I promote ‘ofi’ dress and emirs love my dressing.”
The monarch has been criticised by different people and groups including Yoruba Youth Movement following his adoption of the emir title last weekend.

Lucky Bayern come from behind to beat Sevilla
Bayern Munich fought back with a deflected own goal and a late header from Thiago to claim a 2-1 win at Sevilla in an exciting Champions League quarter-final, first leg clash on Tuesday.
Pablo Sarabia had put Sevilla ahead in the 32nd minute when he got the better of Juan Bernat to control Sergio Escudero’s cross and fire home at the back post.
However, five minutes later Bayern levelled when Sevilla’s Jesus Navas deflected Franck Ribery’s cross past home goalkeeper David Soria at the near post.
With Sevilla tiring, five-time European champions Bayern took advantage and Thiago headed the winner with the help of a deflection off Escudero in the 68th minute.
Vincenzo Montella’s Sevilla were unlucky to go in level at the break, having had the better of the first half and demonstrating the spirit that saw them knock out Manchester United in the last 16.
Despite the absence of suspended playmaker Ever Banega, the Andalusians defied their underdog label and might have been awarded a penalty when Joaquin Correa was felled by Jerome Boateng.
The referee however booked him for diving.
Sarabia should then have put the hosts ahead but fired just wide after the ball dropped perfectly for him in front of goal.
The Spanish attacking midfielder made amends with the opening goal before Navas’s own goal levelled the scores.
With Bayern’s usual left-back David Alaba injured, Bernat was given a torrid time by Sarabia who he was booked for fouling shortly after the opener before being withdrawn at halftime.
The hosts nearly scored just after the break but Javi Martinez made a superb tackle on Franco Vazquez in the area.
After that Sevilla ran out of steam and Soria had to make a fine save to deny Martinez before Thiago grabbed the winner.
Having let the lead slip, Sevilla never looked like pulling level and Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski fired narrowly wide as the visitors looked for a third.
The visitors were in control in what seemed like Sevilla’s undoing in the 2-2 draw with Barcelona in La Liga on Saturday.
Sevilla now need an unlikely triumph against the experienced Jupp Heynckes’ side in Munich in next Wednesday’s second leg to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time.

Plot To Suspend Magu Uncovered
THE battle over the appointment of a substantive Chairman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is not yet over between contending forces in government and the National Assembly.
A plot to suspend the anti-graft agency’s acting chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, was being perfected by those opposed to his retention.
But pro-Magu supporters in government are of the opinion that he remains the best for the job.
They said since there are cases in court over whether or not it was necessary for the Senate to confirm Magu, the matters should be allowed to run their full course to the Supreme Court level.
The National Assembly had rejected the nomination of Magu and made his removal as one of its demands for a quicker resolution of the crisis between the two arms of government.
But the Presidency has remained adamant on the choice of Magu for the job in view of his “unique forensics investigations in the last three years”.
According to investigation, some anti-Magu forces met in the past one week on how to resolve the feud between the Executive and the National Assembly, especially on Magu.
The said forces were said to be “looking for an outright solution to Magu imbroglio”.
Most of the bigwigs were also said to be nursing fears that with or without Buhari’s second term in office, Magu can move against them after leaving government.
It was learnt that Magu will be suspended under the guise of any of these cooked up allegations:
*owning phantom houses at home and abroad;
*opening of an account with suspicious lodgments;
*working in cahoots with an Arab as a business partner;
*unyielding position on the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit( NFIU);
*alleged irreconcilable figures on the amount recovered from looters between the Ministry of Finance and the EFCC;
*alleged insubordination; and
* the likelihood of the EFCC operational activities jeopardising the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
A top source, who spoke in confidence, said: “Since the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, declared that the Presidency was insisting on the choice of Magu, those opposed to the acting chairman of EFCC have also returned to the drawing board.
“Working hand-in-hand with some members of the National Assembly, they have disagreed with the VP.
“The latest plot is to hide under any of the phantom allegations above to suspend him from office whenever the President is out of the country or Abuja.
“Once the suspension is announced, it will be difficult for the President to reverse. The alternative will be a fresh crisis in the presidency over Magu.
“Apart from using the Presidency-National Assembly feud as an excuse, some of these anti-Magu forces also believe that with the tough stance of Magu in office, it could affect the chances of Buhari’s second term bid.
“They also claimed that with Magu out of the way, the relationship between the Executive and the National Assembly can be smoother. Those in the Senate have specifically asked the presidency to prevail on Magu to stop the ongoing investigation of some senators.”
Those who favour Magu, including the vice president, a few Northern Emirs and limited members of the kitchen cabinet of the President have insisted that those against the acting EFCC chairman were out to derail the anti-corruption agenda of the Buhari administration.
A source in the Presidency said: “Magu is a financial crime-buster with exceptional courage. The VP is saying he is the most fitted because the quality of investigations under Magu by the EFCC.as forensic fidelity. Even all the suspects so far interrogated know.
“It is like getting to the middle of a river and contemplating a return. The anti- graft war by the EFCC has earned Mr. President international rating and to do otherwise is to make nonsense of what has been achieved.
“Those who do not want Magu have other agenda than backing the anti-corruption campaign of the President.
“There is no question of insubordination against the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation as being claimed. AGF Abubakar Malami and Magu recently travelled to Dubai together on assignment.
“And why will anybody be so desperate to plot to open an account and lodge cash there in the name of Magu? This shows the extent of desperation by those opposed to him.”
On the crisis between the Presidency and the National Assembly, the source added: “Without Magu’s nomination, the stress will still be there.
Their demands are many and we are trying to reach some understanding.”
Magu has clarified that he did not acquire houses anywhere.
He was quoted to have told those who are backing him that “I have no houses abroad, I don’t own any business let alone having a foreign partner whether an Arab or Lebanese.”
Magu also said he had no direct contact with recovered funds since they go into some dedicated accounts.

Senator Joshua Lidani Held Hostage By Irate Protesters
The senator representing Gombe South, Joshua Lidani, is currently being held hostage by protesters in his constituency.
A live Facebook update by an activist, Ibrahim Wala, monitored on Monday said Mr. Lidani paid an unscheduled visit to Talasse town, the headquarters of Balanga Local Government Area to meet with political associates.
However, one of the protesters who spoke on phone said Mr. Lidani, a former deputy governor, is currently hiding inside the residence of the traditional ruler of the town.
He said the protesters are asking the senator to come out and “answer some of their questions.”
He said the grouse of the protesters with Mr. Lidani is that “he refused to visit Talasse since his election despite several appeals.”
He also said the senator refused to answer or return calls from the people of his constituency “only for him to sneak in today.”
He said the police were invited to the scene but they had to retreat to a distance to avoid confrontation with the large crowd.
“Apart from those at the emir’s palace, several youth groups have also blocked all other roads the senator may seek to sneak out, not just in Talasse here, but other villages along the road as well,” he said.

National Assembly Moves To Reject Buhari’s N4.2trn Bonds
ABUJA —STRONG indications have emerged that fresh crisis may loom between the presidency and the executive as senators are poised to reject the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval of a N4.2 trillion bond.
It was gathered that the senators had taken this decision before they embarked on Easter break, just as both members of the upper and lower chamber were said to be unhappy that the executive failed to render account of the over N9.2 trillion loans or bonds approved by the National Assembly since 2016.
Investigations in the National Assembly confirmed that the lawmakers in both chambers are angry that President Buhari has failed to learn from the past experiences, especially the loan request of $200 billion which was abandoned as lawmakers showed no enthusiasm in handling it.
They claimed that the latest bond request to the National Assembly was another evidence of a President failing to play as a team member and one who treats the legislature with levity.
A senator who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the “sins” being counted against the latest loan request are multifaceted, leading to what they described as a near consensus feeling that the request be rejected.
If will be recalled that President Buhari, had in separate letters read in the House on Tuesday March 27 and in the Senate on March 28, requested for approval of a fresh N4.2 trillion bond.
One of the perceived sins of the President, according to lawmakers, was that he forwarded such a request without prior discussions with them.

Garba Shehu Backs Danjuma’s Call For Self-defence
By Chijioke Jannah
A Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, yesterday backed calls by former Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd) that Nigerians should defend themselves against the unending violence in some parts of the country.
Shehu, who appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s political programme, Sunday Politics, however, warned that it must be within the ambit of the law.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with you defending yourself in line with the law,” he said.
“The security services in the country will probably not be telling Nigerians to do nothing when they come and attack,”.
DAILY POST reports that a day earlier, the Buhari-led government had
appealed to prominent Nigerians, who have national influence, to watch what they say.
Meanwhile, on the reaction of the President to the Former Defence Minister’s outburst, Shehu said he believed that President Buhari was taking the pleas made by Nigerians seriously in dealing with the issues raised.
“This is a listening government and the reaction then was of silence to say to them that we have heard you.
“We will listen to the useful advice you have given us. We will take what we can use from what you have said,” he noted.
The Presidential aide, however, exonerated the military of condoning attacks that have led to bloodshed in the land.
He was of the view that members of the Armed forces were there to defend citizens of the country even to their own detriment.
DAILY POST recalls that Danjuma had on March 24 accused the military of complicity in the killings within Taraba, Benue and other “riverine states” in the country.
According to Danjuma, during a convocation ceremony of Taraba State University, “The peace in this state is under assault. There is an attempt at ethnic cleansing in this state and, of course, in all the riverine state of Nigeria. We must resist it.
We must stop it. Every one of us must rise up,”
Following his outburst, many Nigerians have expressed their views, with many criticizing the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for failing to address the security challenges in parts of the country.

Don’t reinforce failure by re-electing incompetent govt, Obasanjo warns Nigerians.
Samuel Awoyinfa, Abeokuta
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that it would be “foolhardy for Nigerians to reinforce failure by re-electing ineffective and incompetent government in 2019.”
He also warned Nigerians never to be deceived by the reforms being claimed by the Peoples Democratic Party.
Obasanjo called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress to stop giving Nigerians excuses, and get down to work to resuscitate the nation’s wobbling economy.
The ex-president said this on Monday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, while playing host to the New Nigeria 2019 Group led by the convener, Chima Anyaso; in company with Moses Siasia.
As he did in the open letter he wrote to the President, Obasanjo accused the APC government of “bringing hardship on Nigerians” and “running ineffective economic policies” which he said had “crippled businesses.”
He noted that it was uncharitable for Buhari and his party to continue complaining about challenges after almost three years in office, saying the government had failed to confront and solve those challenges.
He tagged the APC-led government “a failure” and warned Nigerians not to re-elect a “failed government that always gives one excuse or another for its failure to meet up with Nigerians’ expectations.”
Obasanjo said it would be “foolhardy for Nigerians to reinforce failure by re-electing ineffective and incompetent government in 2019.”
He also lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party, urging Nigerians not to be deceived by their reforms and apology, arguing that neither PDP nor APC could get Nigeria out of the economic mess.
He said, “The truth is this: When you have an ineffective and incompetent government, we are all victims.
“And don’t let anybody deceive you. Those of you who are in business, your business could have been better today if we have a competent and effective and performing government.
“As I said, stop giving excuses; we met challenges. If there were no challenges, then we wouldn’t need you to come.
“You came in because you know there were challenges and then giving us excuse that you have many challenges, that is why you haven’t achieved results.
“And then you still want to go. The first lesson I learnt in my military training is to never reinforce failure. What we have now is failure.
“Never you reinforce failure. Let failure be failure. And if you do not see what you should see, you will then be a victim of what you don’t like because it’s only when you see what you should see and you do what you should do that you put away what you do not like.
“You see, I have publicly said and I mean it, that as a party, neither PDP nor APC can get us there as they have been. Never mind about reforms and apology and all that. “
