We’ll reject proposal to punish dollar hoarders – Senate.

•We’re not part of move, says CBN

Akinpelu Dada.

The Senate has expressed surprise at a recommendation by the Nigerian Law Reform Commission for a review of the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Act to make people who have in their possession for more than 30 days foreign currencies to go to jail for up to two years or pay a fine of 20 per cent of the amount.

The Senate stated in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, that with its focus on boosting investors’ confidence in the nation’s economy, such a move would prevent investors from entering and exiting the market freely and that its members would reject the proposal outright.

Abdullahi said in the statement, “The measure is disruptive and counterproductive, threatening to undermine many of the reform efforts already underway in the legislature and by government ministries, which are intended to boost investor confidence.

“The Senate will never pass such a punitive and regressive proposal. Overall, some of the commission’s recommendations have many sound attributes and could help Nigeria’s investment climate. We believe the CBN should have the authority to regulate the forex market and determine the exchange rate policy as already enshrined in its enabling Act.

“A market-oriented exchange rate policy is the best recipe for guiding the operations of the foreign exchange market. This will ensure the supremacy of market mechanisms in efficiently allocating scarce forex resources. We will continue to work with the Executive to halt the worsening recession and return to economic growth.”

The proposed changes are said to be intended to help control capital flows and prevent foreign exchange from being taken out of the country.

“The amendments are necessary for effective monitoring and control, and to ensure probity in foreign exchange transactions in Nigeria,” the draft published on the website of the NLRC stated.

Meanwhile, the CBN has said that it has nothing to do with such a legislation that will bar citizens from holding foreign currencies for more than 30 days.

The Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Isaac Okorafor, stressed that the apex bank, in line with its mandate, was committed to safeguarding the international value of the country’s legal tender.

He denied knowledge of the proposed clause recommending a jail term of two years for any holder of foreign exchange in cash or a fine of 20 per cent of the amount.

“To the best of my knowledge, the Central Bank of Nigeria has not proposed any bill seeking to arrest and jail persons holding foreign exchange for more than 30 days,” Okorafor said in a statement.

He also denied that the CBN was planning to confiscate funds in domiciliary accounts of individuals, saying such a claim was false.

Tinubu’s absence at Ondo rally, no big deal –Lalong.

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign in Ondo State, Mr. Solomon Lalong, on Monday said the absence of the party leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and some South-West governors at the party’s rally in Akure on Saturday did not make any difference.

He said since President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, were present at the rally, there was no cause for alarm.

Lalong, who is the Plateau State Governor spoke with State House correspondents shortly after he and the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, met Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tinubu and Governors Rauf Aregbesola (Osun); Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); and Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos) were conspicuously absent at the rally held at the Democracy Park in Akure on Saturday.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State was the only APC governor in the South-West who attended the rally.

Tinubu and other governors who did not attend are believed not to be in support of the party’s candidate in the Saturday election, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).

But Lalong said their absence was not a problem to the party.

He said, “That (their absence) was not a problem. We explained their absence. They sent in their apologies. You heard what happened there. As far as we are concerned, the President who is the leader of the party was at the rally. The national chairman was also there. As far as we are concerned, everybody was there.

“To the party, their absence did not make any difference. If a leader was not there and he has said he was not there because of ill-health, we have prayed that God will heal him.”

The governor expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the Saturday election.

He said he and Fayemi were at the Presidential Villa to thank Buhari for making time out to attend the rally personally.

“We have finished our campaign. You saw what happened at the grand finale. We are not in doubt that APC will win the election in Ondo.

“It is other parties that are scared of the APC and not the APC being scared of other parties.

“We have come to thank the President for going to Ondo for the grand finale rally,” he said.

How Justice Ngwuta moved N27m cash, exotic cars from house –FG.

Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

The Federal Government alleged on Monday that a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, on October 9, 2016, tampered with evidence likely to incriminate him while on bail – following his arrest by the operatives of the Department of State Service on corruption allegations between October 7 and 8.

The Federal Government, in opposing the bail application which Ngwuta’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), argued after his client’s arraignment before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, stated that the evidence the accused allegedly tampered with were a cash sum of N27m and three exotic cars.

The prosecution alleged that after Ngwuta was granted administrative bail by the DSS in Abuja on November 9, 2016, he made a call to someone in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, to move the sum of N27m cash and three exotic cars to some other locations in order to conceal them.

The cars, which were said to have been recovered by the DSS from where they were moved to, were a Hummer Jeep, a Wrangler Jeep, and a BMW 5 Series sedan.

The government, however, stated that the N27m cash along with some vital documents moved in bags from the bathroom of the Abakaliki home of the justice of the apex court was not recovered because it had been “dissipated”.

Ngwuta, who appeared before a Federal High Court in Abuja, sporting a grey suit with a blue shirt and a red tie, was arraigned before Justice John Tsoho on 16 counts, including money laundering and offences relating to obtaining of multiple passports.

The justice of the apex court was allowed to sit in the dock.

But he stood up to plead not guilty when the charges were read to him at about 10.41am on Monday.

Following his arraignment, his lawyer moved his bail application which was opposed by Federal Government’s lawyer, Mr. Charles Adeogun-Philips.

Despite the prosecution’s opposition to the bail, the judge returned from about two-hour break to grant bail to the Justice of the Supreme Court in the sum of N100m to be guaranteed by his own recognisance.

The defendant, who only had to sign a bail bond worth N100m and guaranteed by his status as a Justice of the Supreme Court, was seen being driven out of the court premises in his official Mercedes Benz E350 at about 3.30pm on Monday.

The judge, after dismissing the fear expressed by the prosecution about the possibility of the defendant interfering with evidence and evading trial as baseless, fixed December 7 and 8 for commencement of trial.

However, while opposing the bail application earlier, Adeogun-Philips referred to the counter-affidavit which was filed on Monday narrating how Ngwuta allegedly committed more offences by trying to conceal the origin of the N27m and the exotic cars by instructing Chukwuebuka to move them from his Abakaliki house to other locations.

The counter-affidavit deposed to by Mr. Ganau Wando, an official of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, read in part, “That whilst on administrative bail between October 9 and 21, 2016, the defendant/applicant committed further offences.

“That, in particular, following his arrest on October 7, 2016, and subsequent release on administrative bail on October 9, 2016, the defendant/applicant sought to obstruct the proper administration of justice, having tampered with the evidence likely to incriminate him in criminal acts by engaging one Mr. Nwamba Linus Chukwuebuka through a telephone call on October 10, 2016, to remove the properties from his private residence located at Engineering Close, Off Onwe Road, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The properties are as follows:

“A bag located in the defendant/applicant’s bathroom containing some vital documents which was initially concealed by Mr. Chukwuebuka at the residence of one Abraham Ezeani in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on or about October 9, 2016, and subsequently recovered from there by investigators from the DSS in November 2016.

“A bag located in the defendant/applicant’s bathroom containing the sum of N27m in cash which was initially concealed by Mr. Chukwuebuka at the residence of one Abraham Ezeani in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on or about October 9, 2016, following which it was subsequently dissipated by Mr. Chukwuebuka on the direct instructions of the defendant/applicant.”

The counter-affidavit added that the Hummer Jeep Sports Utility Vehicle, Wrangler Jeep Sports Utility Vehicle and BMW 5 Series Vehicle were “previously located in the compound of the defendant/applicant’s private home in Abakaliki and initially concealed by Mr. Chukwuebuka at the residence of an aunt to Chukwuebuka in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on or about October 9, 2016, and subsequently recovered from there by investigators from the DSS in November 2016.

The prosecuting counsel, while arguing the government’s objection, said the prosecution “regrettably” had to oppose the defendant’s bail application because of his (Ngwuta’s) acts of dishonesty which he had demonstrated by also obtaining multiple valid passports.

“There must be consequences for wrongful conduct. So many times, things have been done in our society with disregard to consequences,” the prosecutor said.

He added, “In counts 10 to 16 of the charges, the defendant is alleged to have maintained multiple identities.

“My lord, in any jurisdiction in the world, I cannot but reject him being released on his own recognisance or being released at all.

“On October 8, a day before the call was made to Abakaliki, the defendant was found with four valid passports. Two of those passports were diplomatic passports and two were standard. He didn’t stop there, investigation showed that earlier this year the defendant had declared two of those passports lost.

“Now we have this problem–we are confronted with such acts of dishonesty. We are confronted with offences that were committed while still on administrative bail.

“The objection is an outright objection. But I have also realistically identified that if your lordship is minded to grant bail, it should be on stringent conditions.

Replying on the point of law, Agabi, however, said the prosecuting counsel was merely repeating the content of the charges and urged the trial judge not to reach conclusions before trial commenced.

Judge refuses to order Justice Ajumogobia’s release.

Ramon Oladimeji.

Justice Muslim Hassan of a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday rejected an ex parte application by Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, seeking immediate release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The EFCC had detained Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia while probing the source of about $793,800, which the EFCC claimed passed through the judge’s domiciliary accounts between 2012 and 2015.

The EFCC claimed that the judge used the money to buy a house in London, adding that the judge failed to explain the source of her wealth.

The EFCC also alleged that the judge received a gratification of N5m from a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Godwin Obla, at a time when the SAN had a case before the judge.

The anti-graft agency had filed 30 counts against both the judge and the SAN before the Lagos State High Court.

On Monday, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, appeared before Justice Muslim Hassan, with an ex parte application seeking the immediate release of Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia.

Onigbanjo contended that the continued detention of Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia in the EFCC custody was a violation of the judge’s fundamental rights.

He argued that the EFCC ought to have charged her to court if it had any case against her.

The SAN said his client had shown the readiness to defend herself against any charge that the EFCC might press against her.

He maintained that the EFCC should either immediately charge his client to court or release her immediately.

“The EFCC has the option to charge her to court but it has not done so. She has also stated that she is ready to defend herself vigorously against any charge that may be slammed on her.

“She is ready to deposit her passport and abide by any other conditions that the court may impose on her.

“There is no need, under the law, to continue to keep her in detention except to humiliate her because the offence is a bailable one,” Onigbanjo said.

Onigbanjo urged Justice Hassan to either order the EFCC to immediately take his client before a court if it had any charges against her or to order the EFCC to immediately release her if it was not ready to do so.

But Justice Hassan declined granting the application, saying it would only be fair to first hear from the EFCC.

He directed Onigbanjo to put the EFCC on notice and adjourned the case till November 28, 2016.

Justice Hassan said, “The prayers being sought cannot be heard by motion ex parte.”

FG wants to wipe us out, Shittes lament.

Ted Odogwu, Kano

The Leadership of Islamic Movement of Nigeria on Monday in Kano accused the Federal Government of plotting to wipe out the movement in the country.

At an emergency press briefing held in Kano, the Head of Martyr Foundation of IMN, Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello, maintained that in Kan, the Ashura procession had ended peacefully before security agents, who he claimed masqueraded as members of a  youth vanguard group, attacked Shitte members.

According to him, since the eruption of the Shitte sect face-off with law enforcement agents, President Muhammadu Buhari had neither intervened nor sympathised with the victims of police attacks.

Bello maintained that the Federal Government’s continued silence over the persistent victimisation of Shitte’s members was a subtle plot to permanently stop them from practising their faith and mode of worship.

‘’We were walking away from Kano toward Zaria and we did not obstruct traffic. It was the heavily armed police officers, who scattered the hitherto orderly, peaceful and solemn procession. There was simply no justification for the police attack, who unjustifiably shot indiscriminately, killing men, women and children, including an eight month-old infant.’’

Bello also called on the Federal Government to compel security agents to release the corpses of their over 100 members so that “we can organise a befitting burial for them according to Islamic rites.”

He urged Nigerians “to be mindful of the shameless disregard to civilians’ lives and property exhibited by the Buhari-led administration.”

Bello urged Nigerians to caution “President Buhari and his lieutenants and to remind them that they were not voted into office to kill those they harbour religious enmity against.”

“Finally, we also reiterate our demand for the unconditional release of our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, his wife, and all those being detained illegally since the pogrom against us commenced,” he said.

$1.6bn fraud: EFCC re-arraigns Diezani’s ally, Omokore, others.

Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday re-arraigned an ally of a former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, Jide Omokore, and others on nine counts of criminal diversion of about $1.6bn alleged to be part of proceeds of the  sales of petroleum products belonging to the Federal Government.

Omokore was re-arraigned before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba alongside Victor Briggs, Abiye Membere, and David Mbanefo.

Two of Omokore’s companies, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited, were also part of the accused persons.

Part of the offences were said to be contrary to section 1 (1) (b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act and punishable under section 1(3) of the same Act.

The accused persons were earlier arraigned on July 4, 2016 before Justice Binta Nyako.

The case had to start afresh following its transfer to Justice Dimgba.

All the accused persons pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them again on Monday.

After the arraignment on Monday,  the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs  (SAN), urged the court to allow the defendants to enjoy the bail earlier granted them by Justice Binta Nyako.

He also urged the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial.

The defence team did not oppose Jacobs’ applications.

Justice Dimgba agreed and fixed December 8, 2016 for trial.

Part of the charges read, “That you Olajide Jones Omokore, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Ltd., Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Ltd and Kolawole Akanni Aluko (now at large) between May and October 2013 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, induced the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation  and the Federal Government of Nigeria to deliver to you 5,652,227 barrels of crude oil (Brass blend) amounting to $616,013,615.27 (Six hundred and sixteen million, thirteen thousand, six hundred and fifteen US dollars, twenty seven cents) through the medium of contract, which delivery was induced by the false pretence to wit: that you had technical competence, professional skills and funds (both local and foreign) necessary to support the  NPDC in petroleum operations for the contract area and you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 1 (1) (b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act Cap. A6, 2010, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and punishment under section 1(3) of the same Act.”

Mimiko meets Buhari, says I’m not joining APC.

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on Monday said despite the controversy surrounding who flies the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state governorship election holding on Saturday, he was not contemplating joining the All Progressives Congress.

He said the courtesies he extended to President Muhammadu Buhari when he led party members to a rally in the state on Saturday was done because of his position as the President and had nothing to do with the party he belongs to.

Mimiko spoke with State House correspondents shortly after meeting with Buhari for the second time inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja since the crisis over the PDP candidate started.

He said the purpose of his two meetings with the President was to brief him on the security situation in his state ahead of the elections.

The governor said, “This is my second visit to the Villa since this crisis in our party started. Like I said, as the Chief Security Officer of my state, if there is any credible threat to security, I owe the responsibility to Nigerians to apprise Mr. President of what is going on in the state.

“Mr. President was in my state to campaign for his party. I extended to him the courtesies of receiving him at the airport and seeing him off as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, not as the APC.

“I understand that people have speculated that this means I am going to the APC. There is nothing of such. I only extended him normal courtesies that protocols demand.

“As a governor and Chief Security Officer of the state, if the President is visiting, no matter the party he belongs, it is only appropriate for me to extend the courtesies to him. That was what I did in Akure.

“And I have also come to brief him about the security situation in my state.”

When asked to comment on the ongoing crisis in the PDP, the governor said he was concentrating on the case in court.

Mimiko said once his candidate, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), wins at the court, the state would erupt in joy.

“The whole of Ondo State will erupt in joy and it will be so self-evident,” he said.

An Educated Moimoi Hawker, Uzoigwe Nwamaka AKA Mama Unizik .

Written By THE HAWKER herself , Uzoigwe Nwamaka. Read below:

A DAY TO MY BIRTHDAY(loading 20th November)

MY SHORT STORY @25

(The diary of an educated hawker)
If my God didn't abandon me then, he will never again. I only have to hold him like never before.
My life as a young girl was so tough!
Many things you may not have known about me but the only thing I want you to know is that GOD KEPT ME!

My childhood

It was from grace to grass. From golden spoon to wooden spoon. I WANTED TO BECOME A MISSIONARY MEDICAL DOCTOR! I was fond of Mary Slessor, Florence Nightingale, Mother Thereasa of Calcutta and Karthry Kulmahn. I was a commited member of Anglican Children's Ministry.
I grew in pain. I lived in pain. I saw rejection. I saw mockery. I saw angry. I saw bitterness. I saw misery. I saw hunger in action. I saw lack. But God kept me!

My adolescent stage

Nothing changed. This period I joined my mum in her poultry buisness. We have to carry the fowls with wheel barrow to the market during festive periods to sell them off.(I love my mum). That was how I learnt hustling but God lifted me. He placed me in so many leadership positions that helped re shape my life. Eg. Speaker Anambra State Childrens Parliament, Senior Prefect etc. Due to my passion for the poor then, I followed some beggers home to see where they lived. I was so passionate about changing their lives even with empty pockets........

Early twenties

I got admitted into the university after much struggles.
God bless director Emeka Ejide and Hon. Tim Egboka.

My year one

As a new student I had many fears to conquer. My life was filled with a whole of tides. One of the greatest issue I had was accommodation issue. I was displaced from house to house till my second year. Even with all these, I never stopped my free classes with the kids. The kids living within my area became my priority. I had to gather them after they stained my cloth with their ball on my way to school. I recieve greetings from them each time I pass them playing around my area. I taught it wise to assemble them together and teach them morals and also help them with their studies. We moved into each compound every saturday to fetch other kids in the area. I bought a chalk board for them after one gateman offered us an accommodation in his compound. We did this till I packed out from the area. (I really miss them). Meanwhile then I survived with post ume registration hustle. God bless Dani David Odeh.

My year two

I lost my laptop(my highest source of income). This laptop, I recieved as a gift from Anambra State after my service in Childrens Parliament. Not up to seven months, it was stolen by armed robbers. I taught of how else to survive as a regular student. I cried in pain. I was half dead I taught I will never survive. This tragedy pushed me down to sell kpof kpof and doughnut for immediate survival. Actually I was laughed at on the ist day I took it to school but my courage and my friend Chidimma pushed me through. It wasn't easy doing it. It took me off classes. I missed morning lectures and quiz. I always rush to school looking scattered and disorganized. I actually started this buisness on 15, Tuesday, January , 2013 with #5000 from a friend. I made about 30 pieces on the Ist day. I even have to fry kpof even in the morning hours to my exams. I hawked other things like toiletries around lodges even in Eke Awka building line to survive. Even with that I organized"the brain fox competition "in my department for junior set then. Though small but part of my vision before I got admission. With God, I survived that stage. God bless Igoamaeze Emmanuel and Oramali Samuel.

My year three

I suddenly discovered I had a vision I dreamt of pursuing even before I got admission in school. I ran for SUG president but I lost. This is because even though the vision burned so heavily in my heart, I didnt start early to work for it because I had a whole lot of issues to deal with.
I was supported by many whom really saw the fire in me. After that I had no other option than to go back to my normal means of survival. This time it was selling of fries.(I met people that supported me financially to start up). I have to do this every night. I choose this because I needed to be in class for morning lectures. A whole lot of persons tried to know why I chose that. Some said I wanted fame
(fame from suffering? )
(Fame at the detriment of my studies?)
This one took my whole time. I reach home at 10pm every night. I gave up hope on my dreamed Ist Class. I was always tired to read even when I lied to many that I find time to read (am sorry about that).
Sometimes, I have to go through my hand out while I await for students to buy the fries. Most times it will rain so heavily after I must have finish frying that i start praying and crying for God to send me MIRACLE BUYERS . Life was hard. Later I stopped the buisness after the night I slept at Ist market, Ifite Awka. It rained heavily that I was delayed. That night I was drenched. The key to compound was no where to be found. My neighbour threw some clothes and blanket for me through the gate. I prayed, slept, woke up in the morning and lost motivation. God bless Evangelist Joshua Chukwujekwu

My final year

I decided not to do any hustling but to fight for my result. I tried to manage anyhow I could. God bless Benny Agozie.
I saw emotional stress, financial stress and physical stress combined together(3 in one). I experienced the good, ugly and bad side of relationships.
There were times I couldnt pray and off from God.
I had heartbreaks. I was rejected, I was abused, I was neglected, I was doubted and was misunderstood. Some people I loved so much worked against me. I had lots of emotional confusion and character flaws. I hungered and thirsted for love which I later found in God not man.
I became addicted to tying of scarf because I shaved my hair just to cut expenses. I lived in fear of survival all the time. A lady stood with me from my year one to the end. She is ILOABACHIE CHIDIMMA(former miss unizik).
Finaly God crowned all things with SECOND CLASS UPPER (2:1)in Psychology. I never sorted any lecturer. I never did exam malpractice. I virtually photocopied all notes. Grace saw me through.

School Holidays

No holidays for me.
No fun
No outing
It was just reading(for the next semester) and hawking (saving for the next semester)

After school

I was left with nothing but I had it very strong that I needed to serve in the house of God before serving my nation (NYSC). My church helped me start up a little business to keep me up. This was how moi moi buisness came up. It was very tough to cook and carry it around for sales at the same time. I went to offices, the streets etc. I also started evening home lesson for kids. I was always weak and sick, but whenever i want to be depressed or feel lonely, I cry to God for joy. I lost my skin colour and was shadow of myself. I looked older and very skinny. But I met helpers like they are always around me. God used someone to even pay for my house rent. I met someone that took me like a daughter. This widow loved me like I cant explain. What a mother does for her child, she did for me. She shared the little she and her son have with me. She taught me giving in lack. She taught me that one spoon of garri can help someone stay alive for some time(meaning no matter how little you have, still help someone from it cos the joy of being loved and cared for can revive a crushed spirit). My phones that were snatched from me by armed robbers were restored heavily. All that I needed was provided. I am happy because in all this, my testimony was protected. Out of all these, God crafted out a strong beautiful happy woman. God bless Chinedu Muoneke and Nchedo.
My greatest assets
My books. I got answers from most books I read. God speaks to me through books.
~My inspiration ~

1. My vision and purpose in life kept me going:

I decided not to trade it for anything a man can offer me. I decided to struggle and have my vision intact. I decided not to sell my vision in the bed of a man am not married to probably to survive through an easy and quick means.

2. Peoples prayers:

All my lectures encouraged me even the HOD and DEAN of my faculty. They were always fast to listen to my requests and pleas. People prayed for me as they buy my products. Mothers blessed me. I received pot, onions, money etc from my buyers. I was accepted and respected with my products. I met a whole lot of Pastors that mentored me at differnt points. They were
Pastor Celestine Etokwuo(Dunamis)
Pator Obi Ogbo(Garden of grace)
Pastor Cece & Ebere Ekwuagana(The Potter's wheel)
Pastor Ebuka (Beautiful ministries)
Pastor Rhema Onyebuchi. (Victorious city)
Evang. Joshua Chukwujekwu (His glory ministries)
Pastor Ben Enenche(Dunamis)
Generally DR. PASTOR PAUL & BECKY ENECHE(joined Dunamis since my year one as an awka pioneer member)

3. My mother:

My mother taught me contentment. She taught me good way to improvise. I never want to dissapoint her. I want to make her happy and feel secured whenever she thinks of me. I want to reduce her HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. My mother is not interested in any money I make but more interested in my chastity as a lady.

4. My father:

I want to make him see and understand life from another direction. I want him to see the strenght I have as a woman. I want him to watch me and be proud to have me as his last daughter. I want him to understand that it is God that trains people not man or even their parents. I want him to understand that God said "even though our earthly parents forsake us, He is there to cover us". God said this because He knows at some point in life, even ones parents can forsake the person. God speaks ahead of any challenge we will encounter after our arrival on earth. "Your parents can forsake you". Hold unto God firmly. He is the general Father we have. He will give you all that you need in a way you will never expect. I have enjoyed "SUPERNATURAL SUPPLIES". Meanwhile I love and admire my dad so much. He is so wealthy. He is hardworking and very calculative. He plans ahead. He taught me discipline. Part of him grows strongly in me. He loves daring. I love daring too.Paying my school fees from my child hood till my graduation is something to appreciate him for. It wasnt an easy thing. I think I understand him. He has my siblings to care for too. I appreciate him for the gift of education. He made sure I went to best of schools.

5. My unborn children:

I want to make a better place for them. I want them to be happy. I want them to be proud of my youth days. I want them to make me their Ist role model. etc. I want to set a strong godly foundation for them. I want to be their champion.

My strong thoughts

1. Kill any shame that will make you feel ashamed for the good but poor way to improvise. To fight and stand in life, embrace God. Cut anything that will take you to ungodly side. Grow in excellence. Never lose hope in God and what you wish to get in life. Dont try to have it all. Let it come gradually (bit by bit) at the right time till it is fully complete. To live long and look younger, run from depression. Never give anyone room to demean you. You are to teach people how to love and treat you. If you allow people to see you as a goat, they will treat you as a goat. Little by little with diligence maketh rich. Never see begging as an option. Work!
To Ladies
Don't let any man abuse you, no matter how rich or connected he is.
Build your character very strongly. Dont appear weak when you are, bad men try to locate that vaccum in you and pin you down through it. Guard your self with wisdom full armour of God. Tightly embrace God. Be sincere to yourself, man and God. If you dont have anything, forget that and use what is present at the moment. Mind your association. It is better to move with a commited friend than group of uncommited friends. Finally you need the HOLY SPIRIT.
And today I STAND SO STRONG AND READY TO FACE LIFE AT 25 AND ABOVE. YOU TOO CAN RISE FROM YOUR HOPELESS STATE NOW. THIS STORY IS TO ENCOURAGE YOU. A LITTLE LOOK INTO MY LIFE STORY. I NEVER EXPECTED ALL THIS, BUT IT CAME. In life you dont choose battles, but battles choose you. Dont be scared. With God, faith and hope, you will make it fully to the end.
I appreciate you all.

Man Commits Suicide In Lagos On Wedding Eve, Drops Suicide Message For Sister.

a 28-year-old man has committed suicide in Mushin, Lagos, on the eve of his wedding.
Shakiru, popularly called Jarule, was found hanging from the ceiling of his 56, Oduduwa Street, Mushin home.

Relatives told The Nation yesterday that the father of two was being expected in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Saturday for the event. Shakiru was said to have sent a suicide message to his sister, Mariam, which reads: “I’m sorry. Forgive me.”

Mariam had reportedly insisted on his arriving early for the event on noticing his attitude of late. But when the message came in around 6:30pm, she did not read it immediately. When she did, she tried to reach some of his friends, but all to no avail. She then got their elder sister who lives near him to go and find out what was happening. His sister found his room locked from inside indicating that he was at home.

But when he did not respond to her knocks, she called Mariam, who asked her to look through the window from where she found his lifeless body dangling from the ceiling.

Mariam said: “I called him several times to urge him to get to Osogbo on time but he told me he would arrive probably on Sunday or even Monday. I asked him what he meant by that when he knew the wedding was slated for Sunday. He quickly changed it and said he was on the way, that he would be there.

I was expecting him till I got his message late at night. I called people close to his area but it didn’t go. Later I called my aunt to help me check him up. That was when she found out what happened. I had stopped calling him at a time because of his unresponsive attitude.”

The late Shakiru also left some notes in his jotter, bordering on love and his life trajectory. They included “I’m Done”, “If you are reading this, it’s too late.” He also wrote phrases such as “I love you” on the pictures of his two children.

Some relatives described his death as embarrassing and unfortunate. They said he was an introvert who hardly picked their calls. It was learnt that his wife is about eight months pregnant. He was said to have proposed an abortion which his doctor warned against because “it was too late.”

His niece, who didn’t mention her name, believes he committed suicide over financial difficulties.
According to her, he became frustrated after the death of his mother three years ago.

“I don’t know what he has encountered in life that should warrant suicide. Since his mother died, he has been finding it difficult to cope with life because she pampered him a lot and he didn’t lack anything. She always supported him out of love for her children. He didn’t acquire any skill that could sustain him. After her death, he was dejected. Sometimes he would complain of not eating regularly, his job was not paying much and that he was getting tired of life.

“But I don’t understand his problem because even his children are not under his care. It is the family that has been catering for them. This wedding we ought to be doing now is not on him. All we required was of him to make himself available. We even sent money to him when he complained he didn’t have money. The wife’s family has been complaining that he was not doing anything on her.”

Another relative said he didn’t believe the late Shakiru committed suicide because of financial constraints. The deceased, he said, just received N36,000 from a thrift society the previous week.

The Nation learnt that the police are detaining four persons living with the late Shakiru.

*Names of successful first batch participants to be posted on N-Power Portal

ALL IS NOW SET FOR THE deployment of 200,000 unemployed graduates selected in the first batch of the Buhari administration's plan to hire half a million Nigerians.

While the 200,000 have been selected about two weeks ago, their names have now been sent to state governments and the FCT who would deploy them to their specific programme assignments. The names would also be published this week on the N-Power internet portal, while the participants would start receiving SMS messages informing them of their selection as from Monday November 21, 2016.

State governments and the FCT are also encouraged to post the names of the successful first batch applicants in their local government areas while there would be further public announcements.

Between now and the end of the month, the states and the FCT would be engaged in deploying the graduates who would formally start working and earning their stipends on December 1, 2016.

Of the 200,000 first batch, 150,000 of them would teach, 30,000 would work in the Agric sector and 20,000 in Healthcare delivery covering the three specific programme assignments.

The N-Power Volunteer Corps is an expression of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to invest in the human capital development of Nigerian citizens, particularly our young people. The N-Power programmme is also an innovative means to enhance ailing public services in the area of basic education and primary healthcare. Also in the agric sector, it is aimed at achieving self-sufficiency by giving our farmers relevant advisory services.

The Federal Government of Nigeria hereby congratulates all 200,000 successful applicants in the first batch, and they are encouraged to take this opportunity seriously by learning the skills that will brighten their future. They are also implored to serve their communities with commitment and dedication.

For those who have not been selected at this time, there is a waiting list based on the total number of applicants, and subsequent batches will absorb more of the qualified applicants.

All together, the N-Power will engage and train 500,000 young unemployed graduates. It is a paid volunteering programme of a 2-year duration that engages graduates in their immediate communities, where they will assist in improving the inadequacies in the education, health, and agriculture sectors.

The 500,000 graduates under the N-Power Corps programme will be trained in skills that will enable them exit after two years to economically viable job and business opportunities.

As part of the programme, the participnts would own tablets that will contain information necessary for their specific engagements, as well as information for their continuous training and developments.

Participants will be provided teaching, instructional, and advisory solutions in 4 main focus areas, and will be paid a monthly stipend of N30,000 during the programme. The 4 main focus areas are in basic education, agriculture extension services, public health and community education (civic and adult education).

Besides the N-Power programme for undergraduates, there are other schemes for non-graduates. These are: N-Power Knowledge, which would select 25,000 young Nigerians and N-Power Build 75,000, all of whom shall be trained and paid during the duration of the scheme.

Nigeria To Extend International Passport Validity To 10 Years

The Buhari administration is considering extending validity period for international passports from its current five to 10 years, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service has said.

Muhammad Babandede told reporters in his office on Saturday that Nigerians should expect an announcement on the policy changes in the coming months.

“We have submitted a memo to the president and we believe we’ll get a positive response to that soon,” Mr. Babandede said.

The immigration chief said the review was the government’s response to several months of complaints from Nigerians and other foreign elements who said the five-year validity period is too short.

Citizens demanded that the NIS should reverse to the old policy that Nigeria had in place before 2007. Back then, the Nigerian passport was valid for 10 years with additional five years validity for renewal.
“We have received complaints that passports only take five years,” Mr. Babandede said. “The international community is not happy, wondering why passports will only be five years.”

“They’re saying it should be 10 years and we’re already considering that. We need to make sure that we have age validity expansion.”

He said the current validity period was unnecessary for people above 18 years because they’re already fully grown and rarely wear a totally different look.
“For example, in some places in the world, they say if you’re below the age of 18, you can have five-year validity passport. But if you’re above the age of 18, you can have 10-year validity because your physical features may not change again within 10 years,” Mr. Babandede said.

The Nigerian government implemented a downward review of international passports from 10 to five years when the country adopted the e-passport with multi-level security model on July 27, 2007
