The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, on Monday denied plans to increase the pump price of petrol.
Two of them spoke to State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Asked to clarify if there will be any increment, Baru who was the first to emerge from the meeting, said “There is nothing like that.”
The GMD, however, directed the correspondents to go to the Petroleum Product Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) for further clarification on the issue.
Pressed on the issue by State House correspondents, he asked, “have you seen any memo to that effect?”
DAILY POST recalls that oil marketers recently threatened to increase pump price in view of forex scarcity.
