Obiano Endorses Pete Edochie's "Anambra Film Project".


Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has pledged the State government's support for the planned "Anambra film project" by Idejimba Productions.

He made the pledge when the production team led by veteran film maker, producer and director Sir Obi Okoli who paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday, 13th October 2016 at the government lodge, Amawbia.

Also in the entourage were Chief Pete Edochie, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, Rita Edochie, Clemson Nonyelu and others. Chief Obiano praised the project team for conceiving the project as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) which is not solely dependent on government funding.

He said the state considers the project very important hence the presence of key government officials at the meeting. He praised their various contributions to the growth of the film industry in Nigeria, otherwise known as Nollywood saying that their pioneering efforts have made them worthy Anambra sons, daughters and ambassadors.

While speaking about the project, Sir Obi Okoli said that Idejimba Films was motivated to embark on the project having observed the various achievements of the Obiano administration in various sectors including Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, Oil and Gas, Industrialisation and Logistics.

He said that the production will be completed within two months and will feature leading Nollywood actors.
In their remarks, Igwe Laz Ekwueme and Chief Pete Edochie variously praised the governor for his vision and for the development his administration has brought to Anambra state despite the economic challenges facing Nigeria.

Anambra state Government officials present at the meeting included Prof. Joe Asike, the Chief of Staff, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Dr. Mrs. Uju Nwogu, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Stella Onuorah, Commissioner for Tourism and Diaspora, Mr. Joe-Billy Ekwunife, Managing Director of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr. Uche Nworah, Managing Director/CEO, Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Mr Chinedu Obidigwe, Special Adviser on Political Matters and Mr Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative Media and Entertainment.
